CAUTION:

1. Prolonged and repeated contact with mineral oil will result in the loss of the skin's natural oils, leading to dryness, irritation and dermatitis. In addition, used engine oil contains potentially harmful contaminants which may cause skin cancer.
   
2. Wear protective clothing and gloves. Avoid contact with used oil. If contact occurs, wash the area thoroughly with soap and waterless hand cleaner. Never use gasoline, thinners, or solvents to wash the skin.
   
3. In order to protect the environment, dispose of used oil and used oil filters at designated disposal sites only.
   

1. Remove the oil filter cap.
   

2. Remove the oil drain plug, and drain the engine oil from the oil pan.
   

   NOTICE:

   Collect the oil in an oil disposal container.

1. Using SST, remove the oil filter.

   HINT:

   Insert the drain hose in the oil filter. Put the drain oil container beneath the drain hose to collect the oil from the oil filter.

1. Check and clean the oil filter installation surface.
   

2. Apply clean engine oil to the gasket of a new oil filter.
   

3. Lightly screw the oil filter into place by hand. Tighten it until the gasket contacts the seat.
   

4. Using SST, tighten the oil filter. Depending on the work space available, choose from the following.

   1. If enough space is available, use a torque wrench to tighten the oil filter.
      

      Torque:

      12 N*m{ 122 kgf*cm , 9 ft.*lbf }

   2. If enough space is not available to use a torque wrench, tighten the oil filter 3/4 turn by hand or with a common wrench.
      

1. Wipe the oil pan and drain plug before installing the plug.
   

2. Install a new gasket and the drain plug.
   

   Torque:

   34 N*m{ 347 kgf*cm , 25 ft.*lbf }

3. Add new oil.

4. Install the oil filler cap.
