DTC    P0617    Starter Relay Circuit High

for Preparation Click here

DESCRIPTION

While the engine is being cranked, positive (+) battery voltage is applied to terminal STA of the ECM. If the vehicle is being driven and the ECM detects the starter control signal (STA), the ECM concludes that the starter control circuit is malfunctioning. The ECM will illuminate the MIL and set a DTC.

DTC No.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

HINT:
Read freeze frame data using the intelligent tester. Freeze frame data records the engine conditions when a malfunction is detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was running or stopped, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

1.READ DATA LIST (STARTER SIGNAL)
  1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the ignition switch ON and turn the intelligent tester ON.

  1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Starter Signal.

  1. Check the Starter signal when the ignition switch is turned ON and START positions.

3.CHECK IF DTC OUTPUT RECURS
  1. Clear the DTCs.

  1. Drive the vehicle at more than 40 km/h (25 mph) for 20 seconds or more.

  1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the intelligent tester ON.

  1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / DTC.

  1. Read DTC.
