STEERING KNUCKLE (for 2WD) > INSTALLATION

HINT:
  1. Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
  2. The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
  3. A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart.



1. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB INNER BEARING

  1. Using SST and a press, press a new bearing into the steering knuckle.

    SST
    09527-17011  
    09950-60020   (09951-00910)

  1. Using snap ring pliers, install a new snap ring.



2. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB OIL SEAL

  1. Using SST and a plastic-faced hammer, tap in a new oil seal.

    SST
    09223-15030  
    09527-17011  

  1. Coat MP grease to the lip of the oil seal.



3. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

  1. Install the dust cover to the steering knuckle with the 4 bolts.

    Torque:
    18 N*m{ 185 kgf*cm , 13 ft.*lbf }

  1. Using SST and a press, press in the axle hub to the steering knuckle.

    SST

4. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB NUT AND ABS SPEED SENSOR ROTOR OR SPACER

  1. w/ ABS:
    Install the ABS speed sensor rotor.

  1. w/o ABS:
    Install the spacer.

  1. Install a new lock nut to the axle hub.

    Torque:
    199 N*m{ 2,029 kgf*cm , 147 ft.*lbf }

  1. Using a chisel and hammer, stake the lock nut.

    NOTICE:
    Do not scratch the serration of the speed sensor rotor.



5. INSTALL KNUCKLE GREASE RETAINER CAP

  1. Using a brass bar and hammer, install the knuckle grease retainer cap.

    NOTICE:
    Do not damage the knuckle grease retainer cap.



6. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB ASSEMBLY


7. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION UPPER ARM ASSEMBLY LH

  1. Install the upper arm with the nut.

    Torque:
    110 N*m{ 1,122 kgf*cm , 81 ft.*lbf }

  1. Install a new cotter pin.

    NOTICE:
    If the holes for the cotter pin are not aligned, tighten the nut an additional 60°.



8. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER ARM ASSEMBLY WITH ATTACHMENT LH

  1. Install the suspension arm with the 2 bolts.

    Torque:
    160 N*m{ 1,632 kgf*cm , 118 ft.*lbf }



9. INSTALL TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Install the tie rod end with the nut.

    Torque:
    49 N*m{ 500 kgf*cm , 36 ft.*lbf }

  1. Install a new cotter pin.

    NOTICE:
    If the holes for the cotter pin are not aligned, tighten the nut an additional 60°.



10. INSTALL FRONT DISC


11. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH

  1. Install the brake caliper with the 2 bolts.

    Torque:
    126 N*m{ 1,285 kgf*cm , 93 ft.*lbf }

  1. Connect the brake hose to the brake caliper with the union bolt.

    Torque:
    29 N*m{ 296 kgf*cm , 21 ft.*lbf }



12. INSTALL FRONT SPEED SENSOR

  1. Install the speed sensor with the bolt.

    Torque:
    8.0 N*m{ 82 kgf*cm , 71 in.*lbf }

  1. Connect the 3 clamps with the 3 bolts.



13. BLEED AIR FROM BRAKE LINE

  1. Bleed air from the brake line (Click here).



14. CHECK FLUID BRAKE LEVEL IN RESERVOIR

  1. Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir (Click here).



15. CHECK FOR BRAKE FLUID LEAKAGE

  1. Check for brake fluid leakage (Click here).



16. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL

Torque:
121 N*m{ 1,234 kgf*cm , 89 ft.*lbf } for aluminum type
152 N*m{ 1,550 kgf*cm , 112 ft.*lbf } for steel type
