REAR LEAF SPRING (for 2WD) > REMOVAL

HINT:
  1. Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
  1. The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
  1. A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart.



1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL


2. DISCONNECT NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the bolt and disconnect the cable from the spring.



3. REMOVE REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY

  1. Support the rear axle housing.

    1. Jack up and support the vehicle's frame on stands.

    2. Lower the axle housing until the leaf spring tension is free, and maintain this position.

  1. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 washers.

  1. Disconnect the absorber (with the 4 bushes) from the U bolt seat and frame.

  1. Remove the 4 bushes from the absorber.

  1. Remove the 2 washers.



4. REMOVE REAR LEAF SPRING BUMPER
  1. Remove the 2 bolts and spring bumper.



5. REMOVE REAR LEAF SPRING U BOLT

  1. Remove the 4 nuts, 4 washers, 2 U bolts and U bolt seat.



6. REMOVE REAR LEAF SPRING BRACKET PIN OR PIN BOLT

  1. Single cab:

    1. Remove the set bolt.

    2. Remove the nut, washer and bracket pin.

  1. Extra, Double cab:

    1. Remove the nut, washer and pin bolt.



7. REMOVE LEAF SPRING SHACKLE INNER PLATE

  1. Remove the 2 nuts, 2 washers and inner plate.



8. REMOVE NO. 2 REAR LEAF SPRING SHACKLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
  1. Using a screwdriver, remove the spring shackle.

    HINT:
    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.



9. REMOVE REAR LH LEAF SPRING ASSEMBLY
  1. Remove the spring from the vehicle body.
