REAR LEAF SPRING (for 2WD) > INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL REAR LH LEAF SPRING ASSEMBLY

  1. Install the spring to the vehicle body.



2. INSTALL NO. 2 REAR LEAF SPRING SHACKLE SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Install the spring shackle to the spring and vehicle body.



3. TEMPORARILY INSTALL LEAF SPRING SHACKLE INNER PLATE

  1. Temporarily install the inner plate to the shackle No. 2 with the 2 washers and 2 nuts.

    HINT:
    After stabilizing the suspension, torque the nut.



4. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR LEAF SPRING BRACKET PIN OR PIN BOLT

  1. Single cab:

    1. Temporarily install bracket pin with the washer and nut.

    2. Temporarily install the set bolt.

      HINT:
      1. The bracket pin can be installed from either side of the spring.
      1. After stabilizing the suspension, torque the nut.

  1. Extra, Double cab:

    1. Temporarily install the pin bolt with the washer and nut.

      HINT:
      After stabilizing the suspension, torque the nut.



5. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR LEAF SPRING U BOLT

  1. Temporarily install the 2 U bolts and U bolt seat with the 4 washers and 4 nuts.

    HINT:
    When tightening the U bolts, tighten the nuts in diagonal pairs.



6. INSTALL REAR LEAF SPRING BUMPER

  1. Install the spring bumper with the 2 bolts.



7. INSTALL REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY

  1. Install the 2 washers to the axle housing.

  1. Install 4 new bushes to the absorber.

  1. Install the absorber (with the 4 bushes) to the U bolt seat and frame.

  1. Install the 2 washers.

  1. Temporarily tighten the 2 bolts.



8. INSTALL NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE

  1. Install the cable with the 4 bolts labeled A, D and nut labeled B.

    Torque:
    25.5 N*m{ 260 kgf*cm , 19 ft.*lbf } for bolt A and nut B
    14.0 N*m{ 143 kgf*cm , 10 ft.*lbf } for bolt D

  1. Install the No. 3 clip labeled C.

  1. Connect the cable to the parking brake shoe lever LH and backing plate LH.

    1. Connect the cable to the backing plate with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      9.0 N*m{ 92 kgf*cm , 80 in.*lbf }

    2. Connect the cable to the lever (Click here).



9. STABILIZE SUSPENSION

  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. Bounce the vehicle up and down several times to stabilize the suspension.



10. TIGHTEN LEAF SPRING SHACKLE INNER PLATE NUT

  1. Tighten the plate nut.

    Torque:
    60 N*m{ 612 kgf*cm , 44 ft.*lbf }



11. TIGHTEN REAR LEAF SPRING BRACKET PIN NUT

  1. Tighten the pin nut.

    Torque:
    120 N*m{ 1,224 kgf*cm , 89 ft.*lbf }



12. TIGHTEN REAR LEAF SPRING PIN SET BOLT

  1. Tighten the set bolt.

    Torque:
    25 N*m{ 255 kgf*cm , 18 ft.*lbf }



13. TIGHTEN LEAF SPRING U BOLT SEAT NUT

  1. Tighten the 4 nuts.

    Torque:
    120 N*m{ 1,224 kgf*cm , 89 ft.*lbf }



14. INSTALL REAR WHEEL

  1. Install the wheel.

    Torque:
    152 N*m{ 1,550 kgf*cm , 112 ft.*lbf } for steel wheel
    121 N*m{ 1,234 kgf*cm , 89 ft.*lbf } for aluminum wheel
