DTC    B1610/13    Front Airbag Sensor RH Circuit Malfunction

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

The front airbag sensor RH consists of the diagnostic circuit and front deceleration sensor. The center airbag sensor receives signals from the front deceleration sensor and determines whether or not the SRS should be activated.
DTC B1610/13 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the front airbag sensor RH circuit.

  1. When center airbag sensor assembly receives line short signal, open signal, short to ground signal or B+ short signal in front airbag sensor RH circuit for 2 seconds

  1. Front airbag sensor RH
  2. Center airbag sensor assembly
  3. Instrument panel wire
  4. Engine room main wire

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1.CHECK FOR DTC

  1. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

  1. Clear the DTCs (Click here).

  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

  1. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

  1. Check for DTCs (Click here).

    OK:
    DTC B1610/13 is not output.

    HINT:
    DTCs other than DTC B1610/13 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

Go to step 2

USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK 

2.CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS
  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

  1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

  1. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor and front airbag sensor RH.

    OK:
    Connectors are connected.



NG
CONNECT CONNECTORS, THEN GO TO STEP 1

3.CHECK FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR RH CIRCUIT (OPEN)

  1. Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor and front airbag sensor RH.

  1. Using a service wire, connect terminals A14-27 (-SR) and A14-29 (+SR) of connector B.

    NOTICE:
    Do not forcibly insert a service wire into the terminals of the connector.

  1. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

    Standard resistance:
    Tester Connection
    Specified Condition
    A6-2 (+SR) - A6-1 (-SR)
    Below 1 Ω

4.CHECK FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR RH CIRCUIT (SHORT)

  1. Disconnect the service wire from connector B.

  1. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

    Standard resistance:
    Tester Connection
    Specified Condition
    A6-2 (+SR) - A6-1 (-SR)
    1 MΩ or higher

5.CHECK FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR RH CIRCUIT (TO B+)

  1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

  1. Turn the ignition switch ON.

  1. Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.

    Standard voltage:
    Tester Connection
    Specified Condition
    A6-2 (+SR) - Body ground
    Below 1 V
    A6-1 (-SR) - Body ground
    Below 1 V



NG
Go to step 10

6.CHECK FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR RH CIRCUIT (TO GROUND)

  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

  1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

  1. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

    Standard resistance:
    Tester Connection
    Specified Condition
    A6-2 (+SR) - Body ground
    1 MΩ or higher
    A6-1 (-SR) - Body ground
    1 MΩ or higher

7.CHECK FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR RH

  1. Connect the connectors to the center airbag sensor.

  1. Interchange the front airbag sensor RH with the front airbag sensor LH and connect the connectors to them.

  1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

  1. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

  1. Clear the DTCs (Click here).

  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

  1. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

  1. Check for DTCs (Click here).

    Result:

8.CHECK ENGINE ROOM MAIN WIRE (OPEN)

  1. Disconnect the engine room main wire connector from the instrument panel wire.

  1. Using a service wire, connect terminals A6-1 (-SR) and A6-2 (+SR) of connector E.

    NOTICE:
    Do not forcibly insert a service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting.

  1. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

    Standard resistance:
    Tester Connection
    Specified Condition
    IF1-1 (+SR) - IF1-2 (-SR)
    Below 1 Ω

  1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

  1. Turn the ignition switch ON.

  1. Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.

    Standard voltage:
    Tester Connection
    Specified Condition
    IF1-1 (+SR) - Body ground
    Below 1 V
    IF1-2 (-SR) - Body ground
    Below 1 V
