CHECK DTC (USING SST CHECK WIRE)

  1. Check the DTCs (present trouble code).

    1. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for approximately 60 seconds.

    2. Using SST, connect terminals 4 (CG) and 13 (TC) of the DLC3.

      Connect the terminals to the correct positions to avoid a malfunction.

  2. Check the DTCs (past trouble code).

    2. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for approximately 60 seconds.

  3. Read the DTCs.

    1. Read the blinking patterns of the DTCs. Examples of the blinking patterns for the normal system code and DTCs 11 and 31 are shown in the illustration.

      1. Normal system code indication (without past trouble code).
        The light blinks twice per second.
      2. Normal system code indication (with past trouble code).
        When the past trouble code is stored in the center airbag sensor, the light blinks once per second.
      3. DTC indication
        The first blinking pattern indicates the first DTC. If there is more than one DTC, a 2.5 second pause occurs between each blinking pattern. After all blinking patterns are shown, a 4.0 second pause occurs. Then all blinking patterns are repeated.

      HINT:
      1. If 2 or more malfunctions are found, the indication begins with the smaller numbered code.
      2. If DTCs are indicated without connecting the terminals, check the "TC terminal circuit" (Click here).


CLEAR DTC (USING SST CHECK WIRE)

  1. When the ignition switch is turned OFF, the DTCs are erased.

    HINT:
    Depending on the DTC, the code may not be cleared by turning the ignition switch OFF. In this case, proceed to the next procedure.

  2. Using SST, connect terminals TC and CG of the DLC3, and then turn the ignition switch ON.

  3. After DTCs are output, disconnect terminal TC of the DLC3 within 3 to 10 seconds. Check that the SRS warning light illuminates 3 seconds later.

  4. After the SRS warning light illuminates, connect terminal TC of the DLC3 within 2 to 4 seconds. Check that the SRS warning light turns off within 2 to 4 seconds.

  5. After the SRS warning light turns off, disconnect terminal TC of the DLC3 within 2 to 4 seconds. Check that the SRS warning light illuminates within 2 to 4 seconds.



  6. After the SRS warning light illuminates, connect terminal TC of the DLC3 within 2 to 4 seconds. Check that the SRS warning light turns off within 2 to 4 seconds. Also check that the normal system code is output within 1 second.

    1. If DTCs are not erased, repeat this procedure until the codes are erased.

CHECK FOR DTC (USING INTELLIGENT TESTER)

  1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  2. Turn the ignition switch ON.

  3. Check for DTCs by following the prompts on the tester screen.

    HINT:
    Refer to the intelligent tester operator's manual for further details.


CLEAR DTC (USING INTELLIGENT TESTER)

  1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  2. Turn the ignition switch ON.

  3. Clear the DTCs by following the prompts on the tester screen.
