1. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE

CAUTION:
  1. Do not disconnect any part of the fuel system until you have discharged the fuel system pressure.
  2. Even after discharging the fuel pressure, place a cloth or equivalent over fittings as you separate them to reduce risk of fuel spray on yourself or in the engine compartment.

  1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

    CAUTION:
    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

  1. Disconnect the fuel pump connector.

  1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

  1. Start the engine. After the engine has stopped on its own, turn the ignition switch OFF.

    HINT:
    DTC P0171/25 (system too lean) may be set.

  1. Crank the engine again, then check that the engine does not start.

  1. Loosen the fuel tank cap, then discharge the pressure in the fuel tank completely.

  1. Connect the fuel pump connector.



2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

NOTICE:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.



3. REMOVE CHARCOAL CANISTER (for Unleaded Gasoline Specification Vehicle)

  1. Disconnect the 3 hoses from the canister.

  1. Detach the canister from the stay.



4. DISCONNECT FUEL HOSE
  1. Disconnect the hose from the clamp.

  1. Pinch and pull the fuel hose's connector to disconnect it from the fuel filter's upper pipe.

    NOTICE:
    1. Check for dirt or mud contamination in the fuel hose and around the fuel hose's connector. Clean if necessary. Dirt or mud can affect the O-ring's ability to seal the connector and fuel filter's upper pipe.
    2. Do not use tools to separate the connector and upper pipe.
    3. Do not forcefully bend or twist the hose.
    4. Keep the connector and pipe free from foreign matter.
    5. Put the connector in a plastic bag to prevent damage and contamination.
    6. If the connector and upper pipe are stuck together, pinch the connector and turn it carefully to disconnect it.



5. REMOVE FUEL MAIN TUBE

  1. Remove the fuel tube grommet.

  1. Detach the lock claws by lifting up the connector cover. Then pinch and pull the fuel main tube's connector to disconnect it from the fuel filter's lower pipe.

    NOTICE:
    1. Check for dirt or mud contamination in the fuel hose and around the fuel hose's connector. Clean if necessary. Dirt or mud can affect the O-ring's ability to seal the connector and fuel filter's upper pipe.
    2. Do not use tools to separate the connector and upper pipe.
    3. Do not forcefully bend or twist the hose.
    4. Keep the connector and pipe free from foreign matter.
    5. Put the connector in a plastic bag to prevent damage and contamination.
    6. If the connector and upper pipe are stuck together, pinch the connector and turn it carefully to disconnect it.



6. REMOVE FUEL FILTER
  1. Disconnect the charcoal canister.

  1. Remove the 3 nuts and fuel filter.
