AUTO START STOP (DIAGNOSTICS) > General Description
CAUTION
1. AIRBAG SYSTEM

  • Do not use the electrical test equipment on the airbag system wiring harnesses and connector circuits.

  • Be careful not to damage the airbag system wiring harness.

2. CONTROL MODULE
1.

The TCM connector is waterproof. When measuring the TCM connector terminal voltage, or the resistance between the terminals, use the check board.

2.

When measuring the voltage or resistance of individual sensors, use a tapered pin with a diameter of 0.6 mm (0.024in) or less and touch it to the tip of terminal. Never insert the tapered pin into the terminal because it deforms inside which may lead to malfunction.

If a taper pin or the like has been inserted into the connector terminal, replace the connector.

2.

Check that the front hood is closed.

3.

Start and warm up the engine.

4.

Using the Subaru Select Monitor, read the data of Auto Start Stop and check that [ECM Idle Stop Prohibition] and [CVT idle stop prohibition] indicate “Permit”. AUTO START STOP (DIAGNOSTICS)>Data Monitor

5.

Using the Subaru Select Monitor, perform the clear memory. COMMON(diag)>Clear memory

6.

Read the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) and check that no DTC is displayed. AUTO START STOP (DIAGNOSTICS)>Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)

If the DTC is displayed on the screen, the trouble is still present. Perform the diagnosis using “Diagnostic Procedure with Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)”. AUTO START STOP (DIAGNOSTICS)>Diagnostic Procedure with Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) After solving the DTC, repeat from step 2).

7.

Turn the ignition switch to OFF.

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE:

When performing inspection mode on a public road, pay sufficient attention to the traffic condition and give the highest priority to safe driving.

1.

Turn the ignition switch to ON and wait for at least 10 seconds without starting the engine.

2.

Start the engine, and run the engine at idle for 60 seconds or more while the vehicle is at a standstill.

3.

Accelerate to 40 km/h (24.9 MPH) or more, and depress the brake pedal to stop the vehicle with the gear kept in D range.

4.

Check that the Auto Start Stop functions for at least 10 seconds.

5.

Release the brake pedal to restart.

6.

Turn the ignition switch to OFF, and wait for 10 seconds or more.

7.

If the Auto Start Stop does not function for 10 seconds or more in step 4), repeat steps 1) to 5) with the number of driving cycles described in the detection condition for each DTC. AUTO START STOP (DIAGNOSTICS)>Inspection Mode

8.

Read the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) and check the DTC. AUTO START STOP (DIAGNOSTICS)>Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)

  • To clear the autostart cancel codes, clear the memory using Subaru Select Monitor. COMMON(diag)>Clear memory

  • Up to five autostart cancel codes can be stored. If five or more autostart cancel codes occur, codes will be deleted from the oldest one.

  • If autostart cancel codes are not stored, the ignition switch may have been quickly turned from OFF to ON during Auto Start Stop. Or, it is possible that temporary poor contact occurs in the ignition power supply circuit.

  • Autostart cancel code 03 will be stored even when canceled by the user operation. Check the time of occurrence and time stamp by interviewing customers.

  • Autostart cancel codes 06 and 07 will be stored when the restart cannot be activated by the system during Auto Start Stop.

If autostart cancel codes are not stored, perform reading of the DTCs of TCM to check if DTC P0604, P0605 and P0613 are displayed. 2

2. CHECK INPUT VOLTAGE OF DC/DC CONVERTER 1.
1.

Turn the ignition switch to ON.

2.

Measure the voltage between DC/DC converter 1 and chassis ground.

Connector & terminal

(B563) No. 3 (+) — Chassis ground (−):

Is the voltage 10 V or more?

3

  • Check the following item and repair or replace if necessary.

    • Open or short to ground in harness of power supply circuit

    • Blown out of fuse

    • Short circuit to ground in harness between DC/DC converter 1 and fuse holder

3. CHECK OUTPUT VOLTAGE OF DC/DC CONVERTER 1.

Connector & terminal

(B562) No. 14 (+) — Chassis ground (−):

(B562) No. 7 (+) — Chassis ground (−):

(B562) No. 8 (+) — Chassis ground (−):

Is the voltage 10 V or more?

4

Check for the poor contact of DC/DC converter 1 connector. Replace the DC/DC converter 1 if no fault is found. STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEMS(H4DO)>Auto Start Stop DC/DC Converter

4. CHECK HARNESS BETWEEN DC/DC CONVERTER 1 AND FUSE HOLDER.
1.

Turn the ignition switch to OFF.

2.

Disconnect the connector from the DC/DC converter 1.

3.

Measure the resistance in harness between DC/DC converter 1 and fuse holder.

Connector & terminal

(B562) No. 14 — Fuse holder:

(B562) No. 7 — Fuse holder:

(B562) No. 8 — Fuse holder:

Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?

Repair the open circuit of harness between fuse holder and each electrical part. If the malfunction is not solved, perform the diagnosis for each electrical part.

Repair the open circuit of harness between DC/DC converter 1 and fuse holder.

9. LIST OF CHECK ITEMS CLASSIFIED BY SYMPTOMS

  • Perform the diagnosis by comparing the vehicle’s data monitor with each condition of Auto Start Stop. AUTO START STOP (DIAGNOSTICS)>Data Monitor
