EXTERIOR BODY PANELS > Front Hood 
REMOVAL
 

The hood COMPL front is heavy. When removing and installing it, always work in a team of two or more persons.

1.

Open the hood COMPL front.

2.

Remove the nuts from the right and left sides of hood COMPL front side, and remove the hood COMPL front.

INSTALLATION
1.

Install the hood COMPL front.

Tightening torque:

25 N·m (2.5kgf-m, 18.4ft-lb)

2.

Adjust the clearance around the hood COMPL front. EXTERIOR BODY PANELS>Front Hood>ADJUSTMENT

EXTERIOR BODY PANELS > Front Hood 
DISASSEMBLY
 

The hood COMPL front is heavy. When removing or installing the hood COMPL front, stay assembly front hood, and hinge COMPL front hood, be sure to work in a team of two or more persons.

1.

Remove the clips, and remove the insulator front hood.

 

Do not reuse any clips damaged during removal. Those clips cannot fix the insulator front hood securely. Therefore, always replace with a new part.

2.

Make alignment marks (a), and remove the striker assembly front hood from the hood COMPL front.

3.

Remove the nuts from the right and left sides of hood COMPL front side, and remove the hood COMPL front.

4.

Remove the cowl panel side. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Cowl Panel>REMOVAL

5.

Remove the cover fender UPR on the left and right sides.

6.

Remove the hinge COMPL front hood on the left and right sides from the body.

EXTERIOR BODY PANELS > Front Hood 
ASSEMBLY
1.

Install the hinge COMPL front hood.

Tightening torque:

25 N·m (2.5kgf-m, 18.4ft-lb)

2.

Install the cover fender UPR.

3.

Install the cowl panel side. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Cowl Panel>INSTALLATION

4.

Install the hood COMPL front.

Tightening torque:

25 N·m (2.5kgf-m, 18.4ft-lb)

5.

Align the alignment marks (a), and install the striker assembly front hood to the hood COMPL front.

 

When installing the striker assembly front hood, make sure that the front and rear sides are positioned in a correct direction.

 

It is not necessary to adjust the striker assembly front hood because there is no span of adjustable range.

Tightening torque:

33 N·m (3.4kgf-m, 24.0ft-lb)

6.

Install the insulator front hood.

Adjust the clearance around the hood COMPL front as follows.

Adjust the horizontal position of the hood COMPL front.

(1)

Loosen the attaching bolts of the hinge COMPL front hood on the left and right sides.

(2)

Adjust the horizontal clearance of the hood COMPL front, and tighten the attaching bolts of the hinge COMPL front hood.

Tightening torque:

25 N·m (2.5kgf-m, 18.4ft-lb)

2.

Adjust the front end height of the hood COMPL front. SECURITY AND LOCKS>Front Hood Lock Assembly>ADJUSTMENT

3.

Rotate the right and left buffer A front hoods to adjust the height.

REMOVAL

1.

Disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor. REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE > BATTERY

2.

Remove the bumper face front. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Front Bumper>REMOVAL

3.

Remove the light assembly head. LIGHTING SYSTEM>Headlight Assembly>REMOVAL

4.

Remove the cowl panel side. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Cowl Panel>REMOVAL

5.

Remove the cover fender UPR.

6.

Remove the mud guard front. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Mud Guard>REMOVAL

7.

Remove the garnish assembly side sill. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Side Garnish & Side Spoiler>REMOVAL

8.

Remove the cover A pillar assembly.

9.

Remove the garnish assembly fender.

 

Do not reuse the garnish assembly fender.

10.

Remove the fender front.

INSTALLATION
1. FENDER PANEL
 

Install the mud guard front so that the front end of the mud guard (b), except for the clip fixing point, comes inside the bumper face (a).

1.

Install the fender front.

 

When installing the fender front, make sure that a uniform clearance is created around it.

Tightening torque:

9 N·m (0.9kgf-m, 6.6ft-lb)

2.

Install the garnish assembly fender.

3.

Install the cover A pillar assembly.

4.

Install the garnish assembly side sill. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Side Garnish & Side Spoiler>INSTALLATION

5.

Install the mud guard front. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Mud Guard>INSTALLATION

6.

Install the cover fender UPR.

7.

Install the cowl panel side. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Cowl Panel>INSTALLATION

8.

Install the light assembly head. LIGHTING SYSTEM>Headlight Assembly>INSTALLATION

9.

Install the bumper face front. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Front Bumper>INSTALLATION

10.

Connect the ground terminal to battery sensor. REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE > BATTERY

11.

Adjust the headlight beam and fog light beam.

EXTERIOR BODY PANELS > Front Door 
REMOVAL
1. FRONT DOOR PANEL
1.

Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE > BATTERY

2.

Remove the trim panel front door. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Door Trim>REMOVAL > FRONT DOOR

4.

Remove the outer mirror assembly. GLASS/WINDOWS/MIRRORS>Outer Mirror Assembly>REMOVAL

5.

Remove the speaker assembly front. ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>Front Speaker>REMOVAL > DOOR

Remove the cover B pillar inner door front.

 
  • Always replace with a new part, because engagement of the claw weakens.

  • Do not damage the sash while removing.

Remove the cover B pillar assembly front. EXTERIOR BODY PANELS>Door Sash(Tape/Molding)>REMOVAL > FRONT DOOR

13.

Remove the regulator & motor assembly front. GLASS/WINDOWS/MIRRORS>Front Regulator and Motor Assembly>REMOVAL

Remove the handle front door outer. SECURITY AND LOCKS>Door Outer Handle>REMOVAL > FRONT

16.

Remove the weather strip door front. EXTERIOR BODY PANELS>Weather Strip>REPLACEMENT

Remove the garnish assembly front door. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Side Garnish & Side Spoiler>REMOVAL

18.

Remove the cover sash inner front.

19.

Remove the bolts and nuts, and then detach the checker assembly door front.

20.

Disconnect the front door harness connectors.

Disconnect the connector of door harness from body harness.

(2)

Remove the grommet, and pull out the door harness connector.

21.

Before removing the panel COMPL door front, make the following preparations.

 
  • The panel COMPL door front is heavy. When removing and installing it, always work in a team of two or more persons.

  • Do not lift the panel COMPL door front with a floor jack excessively. The door hinges may be damaged.

(1)

Put a wooden block on a floor jack and place the jack under the panel COMPL door front.

(2)

Support the panel COMPL door front with the jack to protect it from damage.

22.

Remove the bolts on the side of the panel COMPL door front of the hinge assembly door front upper and the hinge assembly door front lower, and remove the panel COMPL door front.

23.

Remove the hinge assembly door front from the vehicle.

2. FRONT DOOR HINGE
1.

Disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor. REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE > BATTERY

2.

Remove the garnish assembly front door. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Side Garnish & Side Spoiler>REMOVAL

3.

Disconnect the front door harness connectors.

(1)

Disconnect the connector of door harness from body harness.

(2)

Remove the grommet, and pull out the door harness connector.

4.

Remove the bolts on the vehicle side to disconnect the checker assembly door front.

5.

Before removing the hinge assembly door front, make the following preparations.

 
  • The panel COMPL door front is heavy. When removing and installing it, always work in a team of two or more persons.

  • Do not lift the panel COMPL door front with a floor jack excessively. The door hinges may be damaged.

(1)

Put a wooden block on a floor jack and place the jack under the panel COMPL door front.

(2)

Support the panel COMPL door front with the jack to protect it from damage.

6.

Remove the bolts on the side of the panel COMPL door front of the hinge assembly door front upper or the hinge assembly door front lower.

 

Do not remove the hinge assembly front door upper and the hinge assembly front door lower at the same time.

7.

Remove the hinge assembly door front from the vehicle.

EXTERIOR BODY PANELS > Front Door 
INSTALLATION
1. FRONT DOOR PANEL
 

When the panel COMPL door front or the door hinge is replaced with a new part, apply sealant to the door hinge contacting surface.

1.

Put a wooden block and the like on a jack and place the panel COMPL door front on it.

2.

Apply grease to the sliding area of hinge assembly door front, and install to vehicle.

3.

Temporarily install the panel COMPL door front to the hinge assembly door front upper and the hinge assembly door front lower after adjusting the height by the jack.

 
  • When installing the panel COMPL door front, make sure that a uniform clearance is created around the panel.

  • Perform installation while paying attention to the assembly direction of the grommet.

4.

Adjust the clearance around the panel COMPL door front. EXTERIOR BODY PANELS>Front Door>ADJUSTMENT

5.

Tighten the mounting bolts of the panel COMPL door front to the specified torque.

Tightening torque:

25 N·m (2.5kgf-m, 18.4ft-lb)

6.

Connect the front door harness connector.

7.

Tighten the bolts and nuts of the checker assembly door front.

Tightening torque:

Refer to “COMPONENT” of “General Description” for the tightening torque. EXTERIOR BODY PANELS>General Description>COMPONENT > FRONT DOOR

8.

Install the cover sash inner front.

9.

Install the garnish assembly front door. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Side Garnish & Side Spoiler>INSTALLATION

10.

Before installing each part, check the following items.

  • Rod of the latch and actuator assembly front is free from deformation.

  • Grease is applied sufficiently to the rod joints of the latch and actuator assembly front.

  • Cable of the latch and actuator assembly front is free from deformation such as fray.

  • Grease is applied sufficiently to the cable joints of the latch and actuator assembly front.

11.

Install the weather strip door front. EXTERIOR BODY PANELS>Weather Strip>REPLACEMENT > FRONT DOOR

12.

Install the handle front door outer. SECURITY AND LOCKS>Door Outer Handle>INSTALLATION > FRONT

Install the regulator & motor assembly front. GLASS/WINDOWS/MIRRORS>Front Regulator and Motor Assembly>INSTALLATION

Install the cover B pillar inner door front.

 
  • Always replace with a new part, because engagement of the claw weakens.

2. FRONT DOOR HINGE
 

When the panel COMPL door front or the door hinge is replaced with a new part, apply sealant to the door hinge contacting surface.

1.

Apply grease to the sliding area of hinge assembly door front, and install to vehicle.

Tightening torque:

30 N·m (3.1kgf-m, 22.1ft-lb)

2.

Temporarily install the panel COMPL door front to the hinge assembly door front upper and the hinge assembly door front lower after adjusting the height by the jack.

 

When installing the panel COMPL door front, make sure that a uniform clearance is created around the panel.

3.

Adjust the clearance around the panel COMPL door front. EXTERIOR BODY PANELS>Front Door>ADJUSTMENT

4.

Tighten the bolts of the panel COMPL door front to the specified torque.

Tightening torque:

25 N·m (2.5kgf-m, 18.4ft-lb)

5.

Tighten the bolts and nuts of the checker assembly door front.

Tightening torque:

6.

Connect the front door harness connector.

7.

1.

Adjust the vertical and horizontal positions of the panel COMPL door front.

(1)

Turn over the mud guard front. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Mud Guard>REMOVAL

(2)

Loosen the vehicle side bolts of the hinge assembly door front upper and the hinge assembly door front lower.

(3)

Adjust the vertical and horizontal clearance of the panel COMPL door front.

2.

Adjust the surface level gap between the panel COMPL door front and the panel COMPL door rear.

 

Do not use an impact wrench. Welding area on the striker nut plate is easily broken.

(1)

Loosen the screws (a).

(2)

Lightly tap the striker front door (b) using a plastic hammer to adjust the surface level gap between the rear end of the panel COMPL door front and the front end of the panel COMPL door rear.

EXTERIOR BODY PANELS > Rear Door 
REMOVAL

Disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor. REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE > BATTERY

Remove the trim panel rear door. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Door Trim>REMOVAL > REAR DOOR

4.

Remove the cover B pillar inner door rear and the cover C pillar inner door rear.

 
  • Always replace with a new part, because engagement of the claw weakens.

  • Do not damage the sash while removing.

5.

Remove the speaker assembly rear. ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>Rear Speaker>REMOVAL

6.

Remove the glass assembly rear door. GLASS/WINDOWS/MIRRORS>Rear Door Glass>REMOVAL

7.

Remove the cover B pillar assembly rear and the cover C pillar assembly rear. EXTERIOR BODY PANELS>Door Sash(Tape/Molding)>REMOVAL > REAR DOOR

8.

Remove the regulator and motor assembly rear. GLASS/WINDOWS/MIRRORS>Rear Regulator and Motor Assembly>REMOVAL

9.

Remove the latch and actuator assembly rear. SECURITY AND LOCKS>Rear Gate Latch and Actuator Assembly>REMOVAL

10.

Remove the handle rear door outer. SECURITY AND LOCKS>Door Outer Handle>REMOVAL > REAR

11.

Remove the weather strip door rear. EXTERIOR BODY PANELS>Weather Strip>REPLACEMENT

12.

Remove the garnish assembly rear door. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Side Garnish & Side Spoiler>REMOVAL

13.

Remove the bolts and nuts to remove the checker assembly door rear.

14.

Disconnect the rear door harness connectors.

(1)

Remove the grommet and pull out the rear door harness connector from inside the center pillar.

(2)

Disconnect the rear door harness connectors.

15.

Before removing the panel COMPL door rear, make the following preparations.

 

Do not lift the panel COMPL door rear with a floor jack excessively. The door hinges may be damaged.

(1)

Put a wooden block on a floor jack and place the jack under the panel COMPL door rear.

(2)

Support the panel COMPL door rear with the jack to protect it from damage.

16.

Remove the bolts on the hinge assembly door rear upper side and the hinge assembly door rear lower side, and remove the panel COMPL door rear.

 

The panel COMPL door rear is heavy. When removing and installing it, always work in a team of two or more persons.

17.

Remove the hinge assembly door rear from the vehicle. EXTERIOR BODY PANELS>Rear Door>REMOVAL > REAR DOOR HINGE

2. REAR DOOR HINGE
1.

Disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor. REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE > BATTERY

2.

Remove the garnish assembly rear door. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Side Garnish & Side Spoiler>REMOVAL

3.

Disconnect the rear door harness connectors.

(1)

Remove the grommet and pull out the rear door harness connector from inside the center pillar.

(2)

Disconnect the rear door harness connectors.

4.

Remove the bolt on the vehicle side and disconnect the checker assembly door rear.

5.

Before removing the hinge assembly door rear, make the following preparations.

 
  • The panel COMPL door rear is heavy. When removing and installing it, always work in a team of two or more persons.

  • Do not lift the panel COMPL door rear with a floor jack excessively. The door hinges may be damaged.

(1)

Put a wooden block on a floor jack and place the jack under the panel COMPL door rear.

(2)

Support the panel COMPL door rear with the jack to protect it from damage.

6.

Remove the bolts on the panel COMPL door rear side of the hinge assembly door rear upper or the hinge assembly door rear lower.

 

Do not remove the hinge assembly door rear upper and the hinge assembly door rear lower at the same time.

7.

Remove the hinge assembly door rear from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION
1. REAR DOOR PANEL
 

When the panel COMPL door rear or the door hinge is replaced with a new part, apply sealant to the door hinge contacting surface.

1.

Put a wooden block and the like on a jack and place the panel COMPL door rear on it.

2.

Apply grease to the sliding area of hinge assembly door rear, and install to vehicle.

3.

Temporarily install the panel COMPL door rear to the hinge assembly door rear upper and the hinge assembly door rear lower after adjusting the height by the jack.

 
  • When installing, make sure that a uniform clearance is created around the panel COMPL door rear.

  • Perform installation while paying attention to the assembly direction of the grommet.

4.

Adjust the clearance around the panel COMPL door rear. EXTERIOR BODY PANELS>Rear Door>ADJUSTMENT

5.

Tighten the mounting bolts of the panel COMPL door rear to the specified torque.

Tightening torque:

25 N·m (2.5kgf-m, 18.4ft-lb)

6.

Connect the rear door harness connector, and install the harness grommet.

7.

Tighten the bolts and nuts of the checker assembly door rear.

Tightening torque:

Refer to “COMPONENT” of “General Description” for the tightening torque. EXTERIOR BODY PANELS>General Description>COMPONENT > REAR DOOR

8.

Before installing each part, check the following items.

  • Is the lever of the frame assembly rear door handle outer is free from deformation?

  • Is grease applied sufficiently to the lever joints of the latch & actuator assembly rear?

  • Is the cable of the latch and actuator assembly rear free from deformation such as fray?

  • Is grease applied sufficiently to the cable joints of the latch and actuator assembly rear?

9.

Install the garnish assembly rear door. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Side Garnish & Side Spoiler>INSTALLATION

10.

Install the weather strip door rear. EXTERIOR BODY PANELS>Weather Strip>REPLACEMENT > REAR DOOR

11.

Install the handle rear door outer. SECURITY AND LOCKS>Door Outer Handle>INSTALLATION > REAR

Install the cover B pillar inner door rear and the cover C pillar inner door rear.

 
  • Always replace with a new part, because engagement of the claw weakens.

  • Do not damage the sash while installing.

Install the trim panel rear door. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Door Trim>INSTALLATION

20.

Connect the ground terminal to battery sensor. REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE > BATTERY

2. REAR DOOR HINGE
 

When the panel COMPL door rear or the door hinge is replaced with a new part, apply sealant to the door hinge contacting surface.

1.

Apply grease to the sliding area of hinge assembly door rear, and install to vehicle.

Tightening torque:

30 N·m (3.1kgf-m, 22.1ft-lb)

2.

Temporarily install the panel COMPL door rear to the hinge assembly door rear upper and the hinge assembly door rear lower after adjusting the height by the jack.

 

When installing, make sure that a uniform clearance is created around the panel COMPL door rear.

3.

Adjust the clearance around the panel COMPL door rear. EXTERIOR BODY PANELS>Rear Door>ADJUSTMENT

 

When installing, make sure that a uniform clearance is created around the panel COMPL door rear.

4.

Tighten the bolts of the panel COMPL door rear to the specified torque.

Tightening torque:

25 N·m (2.5kgf-m, 18.4ft-lb)

5.

Connect the rear door harness connector.

6.

Tighten the vehicle side bolts of the checker assembly door rear.

Tightening torque:

Refer to “COMPONENT” of “General Description” for the tightening torque. EXTERIOR BODY PANELS>General Description>COMPONENT > REAR DOOR

7.

Install the garnish assembly rear door. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Side Garnish & Side Spoiler>INSTALLATION

8.

Adjust the vertical and horizontal positions of the panel COMPL door rear.

(1)

Loosen the vehicle side bolts of the hinge assembly door rear upper and the hinge assembly door rear lower.

(2)

Adjust the vertical and horizontal clearance of the panel COMPL door rear.

2.

Adjust the surface level gap between the panel COMPL door rear and the body.

 

Do not use an impact wrench. Welding area on the striker nut plate is easily broken.

Loosen the screws (a).

(2)

Tap the striker rear door (b) using a plastic hammer to adjust the surface level gap between the rear end of the panel COMPL door rear and the rear quarter.

EXTERIOR BODY PANELS > Sealing Cover 
REMOVAL
1. FRONT SEALING COVER
1.

Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE > BATTERY

2.

Remove the trim panel front door. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Door Trim>REMOVAL > FRONT DOOR

3.

Remove the sealing cover door front.

 
  • Carefully remove the butyl tape. Excessive force will easily break the cover.

  • Be careful not to allow the butyl tape to contact any trims and seats because the butyl tape, which has a strong adhesive force, is difficult to remove once it adhered.

  • If the sealing cover door front gets broken, replace it with a new part.

Remove the screw to remove the bracket door front.

(2)

Disconnect connectors.

(3)

Carefully remove the butyl tape to remove the sealing cover door front.

2. REAR SEALING COVER
1.

Disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor. REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE > BATTERY

2.

Remove the trim panel rear door. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Door Trim>REMOVAL > REAR DOOR

3.

Remove the sealing cover door rear.

 
  • Carefully remove the butyl tape. Excessive force will easily break the cover.

  • Be careful not to allow the butyl tape to contact any trims and seats because the butyl tape, which has a strong adhesive force, is difficult to remove once it adhered.

  • If the sealing cover door rear gets broken, replace it with a new part.

  • If the sealing cover gets broken, replace it with a new part.

  • Attach the sealing cover, keeping it from becoming wrinkled.

  • If the sealing cover position is not aligned, it may cause improper trim panel installation or water leakage.

  • Apply a butyl tape evenly.

  • Breaks in the bead will allow water leakage and contamination.

1. FRONT SEALING COVER
1.

Install the sealing cover door front.

When replacing the sealing cover door front, use the butyl tape.

Preparation items:

Butyl tape: 3M Butyl Tape 8626 or equivalent

Install the sealing cover door rear.

When replacing the sealing cover door rear, use butyl tape.

Preparation items:

Butyl tape: 3M Butyl Tape 8626 or equivalent

Install the trim panel rear door.

Disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor. REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE > BATTERY

Remove the stopper rubber rear gate LH and RH.

3.

Remove the rear gate trim and the garnish assembly rear gate. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Rear Gate Garnish>REMOVAL

4.

Remove the molding side assembly rear gate RH and LH.

 

As necessary, remove the seal side rear gate.

5.

Remove the light assembly finisher rear. LIGHTING SYSTEM>Rear Finisher Light Assembly>REMOVAL

6.

Remove the light assembly license. LIGHTING SYSTEM>License Plate Light>REMOVAL

7.

Remove the rearview camera assembly. ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>Camera>REMOVAL > REAR

8.

Remove the arm assembly rear wiper and the motor assembly rear wiper. WIPER AND WASHER SYSTEMS>Rear Wiper Motor>REMOVAL

9.

Remove the latch and actuator rear gate. SECURITY AND LOCKS>Rear Gate Latch and Actuator Assembly>REMOVAL

10.

Remove the buffer rear gate side on the right and left sides.

11.

Remove the spoiler assembly roof. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Roof Spoiler>REMOVAL

12.

Disconnect the joint portion of the hose assembly rear washer.

13.

Remove the nozzle rear washer. WIPER AND WASHER SYSTEMS>Rear Washer>REMOVAL

14.

Remove the rubber duct connection.

15.

Remove the connector and harness clip, and then pull out the harness from the panel COMPL rear gate shown in the figure (a).

16.

Remove the glass rear gate. GLASS/WINDOWS/MIRRORS>Rear Gate Glass>REMOVAL

17.

Before removing the stay assembly rear gate, prevent the panel COMPL rear gate from closing by using a prop or the like.

 

If the prop comes off, operators may get injured and vehicle may get damaged. Make sure to support the panel COMPL rear gate with secure material to prevent injury or damage.

18.

Remove the stay assembly rear gate on the right and left sides.

(1)

Remove the mounting bolts in the panel COMPL rear gate side.

(2)

Remove the mounting bolts on the body side.

19.

Remove the bolts of the hinge assembly rear gate, and remove the panel COMPL rear gate.

 

The panel COMPL rear gate is heavy. When removing and installing it, always work in a team of two or more persons.

20.

Remove the hinge assembly door rear gate from the vehicle.

2. REAR GATE DAMPER STAY
 
  • Do not damage piston rods and oil seals.

  • Never disassemble cylinders: They contain gas.

  • The panel COMPL rear gate is heavy. When removing and installing it, always work in a team of two or more persons.

 

For removal for models with power rear gate, refer to the “POWER REAR GATE SYSTEM” section. POWER REAR GATE SYSTEM>Power Rear Gate Drive Unit>REMOVAL

1.

Before removing the stay assembly rear gate, prevent the panel COMPL rear gate from closing by using a prop or the like.

 

If the prop comes off, operators may get injured and vehicle may get damaged. Make sure to support the panel COMPL rear gate with secure material to prevent injury or damage.

2.

Remove the mounting bolts and remove the stay assembly rear gate on the right and left sides.

Install the hinge assembly door rear gate to the vehicle body.

2.

Temporarily install the panel COMPL rear gate to the hinge assembly door rear gate.

 

When installing, make sure that a uniform clearance is created around the panel COMPL rear gate.

3.

Adjust the clearance around the panel COMPL rear gate. EXTERIOR BODY PANELS>Rear Gate>ADJUSTMENT

4.

Tighten the bolts of the hinge assembly door rear gate.

Tightening torque:

25 N·m (2.5kgf-m, 18.4ft-lb)

5.

Install the stay assembly rear gate.

 

Before installing, degrease the bracket surface of stay assembly rear gate.

Tightening torque:

13 N·m (1.3kgf-m, 9.6ft-lb)

7.

Install the connector, the harness clip and the harness.

8.

Install the rubber duct connection.

9.

Install the nozzle rear washer. WIPER AND WASHER SYSTEMS>Rear Washer>INSTALLATION

10.

Connect the hose assembly rear washer.

11.

Install the spoiler assembly roof. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Roof Spoiler>INSTALLATION

12.

Install the buffer rear gate side.

Tightening torque:

7.5N·m (0.8kgf-m, 5.5ft-lb)

Gas is colorless, odorless, and harmless. However, gas pressure may spray cutting powder or oil. Be sure to wear dust-resistant goggles.

1.

Cover with a vinyl sack as shown in the figure.

Prevent the vinyl sack from being caught by the cutting edge of a saw.

2.

Lift the body side slightly with piston rods fully extended, and secure the body side with vise.

Make a hole of 2 — 3 mm (0.080.12in) diameter at a point 20 — 200 mm (0.797.87in) from the body side by using a saw, and bleed the gas in the rear gate damper stay completely.

Replace the hood seal rubber while pulling the rubber. Be careful not to tear the rubber.

2.

Replace the weather strip body side flange while pulling the rubber. Be careful not to tear the rubber.

3.

Replace the weather strip body arch rear while pulling the rubber. Be careful not to tear the rubber.

4.

Replace the weather strip door rear gate while pulling the rubber. Be careful not to tear the rubber.

 

While removing the weather strip door rear gate, be careful not to allow adhesive to contact the trim panel sub assembly.

5.

Replace the seal cowl rubber while pulling the rubber. Be careful not to tear the rubber.

Cover the removed checker assembly door front with a waste cloth to prevent scratching.

2.

Remove the weather strip after removing the clip. Be careful not to tear the rubber.

 
  • The weather strip may tear if being pulled. Also, the weather strip clip may be damaged if being removed with excessive force.

  • When fragments of the damaged clip fall in the door panel, be sure to remove them.

3.

Install each weather strip.

 
  • Replace the damaged weather strip clip with a new part.

  • When fragments of the clip fall in the door panel, be sure to remove them.

4.

Install the checker assembly door front.

Tightening torque:

33 N·m (3.4kgf-m, 24.3ft-lb)

DOOR PANEL (INNER LWR)

Remove and install the weather strip after removing the clip. Be careful not to tear the rubber.

 
  • The weather strip may tear if being pulled. Also, the weather strip clip may be damaged if being removed with excessive force.

  • When fragments of the damaged clip fall in the door panel, be sure to remove them.

If the gap between the rear end of door trim upper and the weather strip is not even, refit the weather strips.

Remove and install the weather strip after removing the clip. Be careful not to tear the rubber.

 
  • The weather strip may tear if being pulled. Also, the weather strip clip may be damaged if being removed with excessive force.

  • When fragments of the damaged clip fall in the door panel, be sure to remove them.
