OPERATION
1. CHECK CONNECTIONS WITH LINE DIAG MODE
1.

Turn the ignition switch to ACC.

2.

Press the button (b) twice with the button (a) pressed.

 

Pressing the button (a) for 3 seconds or more, or turning the ignition switch from the OFF to ACC position can exit the diagnostic mode.

3.

{Line Diag} screen is displayed.

4.

Check the connection status with the {Connection} in the {Line Diag} screen.

2. CHECK VEHICLE SIGNALS WITH LINE DIAG MODE

Pressing the button (a) for 3 seconds or more, or turning the ignition switch from the OFF to ACC position can exit the diagnostic mode.

3.

{Line Diag} screen is displayed.

4.

Perform the speaker output check and antenna connection check with the {Audio Check} in the {Line Diag} screen.

Speaker Check

Speaker check operation

  • Standard

    • 4 speakers: Front right → front left → rear left → rear right speakers will sound in this order for 0.5 seconds each.

    • 6 speakers: Front right → tweeter right → tweeter left → front left → rear left → rear right speakers will sound in this order for 0.5 seconds each.

  • Brand: Tweeter left → front left → rear left → sub woofer → sub woofer → rear right → front right → tweeter right speakers will sound in order for 0.5 seconds each.

 
  • The sound volume during the speaker check is different depending on the speakers.

    • Standard speaker: Sounds at 30 steps.

    • Brand speaker: Sounds at 25 steps.

  • Turn the VOLUME button to control the sound volume.

4. CHECK MICROPHONE WITH LINE DIAG MODE
1.

Turn the ignition switch to ACC.

2.

Press the button (b) twice with the button (a) pressed.

 

Pressing the button (a) for 3 seconds or more, or turning the ignition switch from the OFF to ACC position can exit the diagnostic mode.

3.

{Line Diag} screen is displayed.

4.

Check the microphone level with the {Microphone} in the {Line Diag} screen.

Check that the microphone input level varies depending on the sound and voice.

1.

Disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor. REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE > BATTERY

Remove the grille ventilation assembly center. AIR CONDITIONER>Air Vent Grille>REMOVAL > CENTER GRILLE

3.

Remove the panel center UPR.

(1)

Release the clips and claws, then detach the panel center UPR.

4.

Remove the audio assembly.

(1)

Remove the screws.

(2)

Release the clips and disconnect the connector, and then remove the audio assembly.

5.

6.

Remove the audio bracket.

(1)

Remove the screws, and then remove the audio bracket.

 

Remove the screws on RH side in the same procedure as on the LH side.

Do not allow harness and cables to interfere with or get caught by other parts.

1.

Install the audio bracket.

2.

Remove the trim panel assembly A pillar. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Upper Inner Trim>REMOVAL

3.

Remove the grille speaker side.

(1)

Release the clips, hooks and claws, then detach the grille speaker side.

4.

Remove the speaker assembly tweeter.

(1)

Remove the screws.

Preparation tool:

Stubby screwdriver

Disconnect the connector and remove the speaker assembly tweeter.

2. DOOR
1.

Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE > BATTERY

3.

Remove the speaker assembly front.

Disconnect the connector.

Remove the bolts and hooks, and then remove the speaker assembly woofer.

INSTALLATION
1.

Install the speaker assembly woofer.

Tightening torque:

7.5N·m (0.8kgf-m, 5.5ft-lb)

2.

Install the trim panel assembly apron RH. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Rear Quarter Trim>INSTALLATION

3.

Install the rear seat cushion assembly. SEATS>Rear Seat>INSTALLATION

4.

Connect the ground terminal to battery sensor. REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE > BATTERY

REMOVAL
 

Remove the power amplifier assembly after sliding the front seat RH back and forth as necessary.

1.

Disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor. REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE > BATTERY

2.

Remove the power amplifier assembly.

Remove the harness clip, and disconnect each connector.

(2)

Remove the nut and remove the power amplifier assembly.

Install the power amplifier assembly.

Tightening torque:

7.5N·m (0.8kgf-m, 5.5ft-lb)

2.

REMOVAL
1. ROOF ANTENNA
1.

Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE > BATTERY

Lower the trim panel sub assembly. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Roof Trim>REMOVAL

 

Procedures for the trim panel sub assembly is performed inside the vehicle.

3.

Remove the antenna assembly roof.

(1)

Disconnect the connector and remove the nut.

 

For models with SXM, disconnect the SXM connector.

(2)

Remove the antenna assembly roof while pressing the temporal holding claws.

2. ANTENNA FEEDER CORD
INSTRUMENT PANEL
1.

Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE > BATTERY

2.

Remove the grille ventilation assembly center. AIR CONDITIONER>Air Vent Grille>REMOVAL > CENTER GRILLE

3.

Remove the audio assembly or navigation assembly. ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>Audio>REMOVAL

4.

Remove the pocket assembly and the panel instrument passenger. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Glove Box>REMOVAL

5.

Remove the trim panel assembly A pillar RH. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Upper Inner Trim>REMOVAL

6.

Remove the cord assembly antenna feeder.

(1)

Disconnect the connector.

(2)

Release the harness clip and the clamp, and remove the cord assembly antenna feeder.

ROOF TRIM
7.

Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE > BATTERY

8.

Remove the trim panel sub assembly. EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Roof Trim>REMOVAL

9.

Remove the cord assembly antenna feeder.

3. TELEMATICS SUB ANTENNA
1.

Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE > BATTERY

2.

Remove the grille ventilation assembly center. AIR CONDITIONER>Air Vent Grille>REMOVAL > CENTER GRILLE

3.

Remove the audio assembly or navigation assembly. ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>Audio>REMOVAL

5.

Remove the combination meter assembly. INSTRUMENTATION/DRIVER INFO>Combination Meter>REMOVAL

6.

Remove the telematics sub antenna.

(1)

Disconnect the GPS antenna assembly connector.

(2)

Attach a string to the telematics sub antenna connector and the GPS antenna assembly connector on the main body side.

 
  • A string makes operation easier during installation.

  • The telematics sub antenna is integrated into the GPS antenna assembly cord.

(3)

Remove the bolts, cord clips and clamps, and pull out the telematics sub antenna from the combination meter side.

(4)

After the telematics sub antenna has been pulled out, remove the string attached to the connector in step (2).

 

Leave the attached string inside the instrument panel, and use it during installation.

4. GPS ANTENNA
1.

Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE > BATTERY

2.

Remove the grille ventilation assembly center. AIR CONDITIONER>Air Vent Grille>REMOVAL > CENTER GRILLE

3.

Remove the audio assembly or navigation assembly. ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>Audio>REMOVAL

5.

Remove the combination meter assembly. INSTRUMENTATION/DRIVER INFO>Combination Meter>REMOVAL

6.

Remove the GPS antenna assembly.

(1)

Disconnect the connector, and remove the connector clip.

(2)

Remove screws and remove the GPS antenna assembly.

(3)

Tie a string to the GPS antenna assembly connector on the vehicle side.

 

A string makes operation easier during installation.

(4)

Release the cord clamp, and pull out the GPS antenna assembly cord from the combination meter side.

(5)

When the GPS antenna assembly cord is pulled out, remove the string attached to the connector in step (3).

 

Leave the attached string inside the instrument panel, and use it during installation.

Install the antenna assembly roof.

Tightening torque:

4.5N·m (0.5kgf-m, 3.3ft-lb)

3. TELEMATICS SUB ANTENNA
1.

Install the telematics sub antenna.

Tightening torque:

7.5N·m (0.8kgf-m, 5.5ft-lb)

 

Install the telematics sub antenna by using the sting left inside the parts to pull the part into the instrument panel.

2.

Install the combination meter assembly. INSTRUMENTATION/DRIVER INFO>Combination Meter>INSTALLATION

4.

Install the audio assembly or navigation assembly. ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>Audio>INSTALLATION

5.

4. GPS ANTENNA
1.

Install the GPS antenna assembly and GPS antenna assembly cord.

 

Install the GPS antenna assembly cord by using the sting left inside the parts to pull the part into the instrument panel.

OPERATION
1. REGISTRATION (COMM CHECK)
 

Do not press and hold the i-button for more than two seconds during communication check, or settings will return to factory mode in poor radio wave environment. If the settings has returned to factory mode, perform the communication check again. To check the mode status, see “Subscription Status” in the current data display on Subaru Select Monitor.

1.

Replace the data communication module with a new part.

2.

Check that the LED of overhead console or stereo camera cover assembly illuminates in green.

3.

Register the immobilizer. For detailed operation procedure, refer to “Type B” or “Type D” described in “REGISTRATION MANUAL FOR IMMOBILIZER”.

4.

Press and hold the i-button for 2 seconds or more.

 

When the subscription is completed, the telematics system will automatically activate.

Remove the grille ventilation assembly center. AIR CONDITIONER>Air Vent Grille>REMOVAL > CENTER GRILLE

3.

Remove the audio assembly or navigation assembly. ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>Audio>REMOVAL

4.

Remove the data communication module.

Disconnect the cable connected to the audio assembly or navigation assembly.

(2)

Remove the screws and remove the data communication module.

 

Do not drop or apply any impact to the data communication module.

 

Remove the screws on LH side in the same procedure as on the RH side.

2. BACKUP BATTERY
1.

Disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor. REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE > BATTERY

3.

Remove the backup battery.

Remove the screws, and then remove the battery cover.

Install the data communication module.

 

Align the positioning pin (a) of the data communication module with the positioning hole of the audio assembly or navigation assembly.

3.

Install the grille ventilation assembly center. AIR CONDITIONER>Air Vent Grille>REMOVAL > CENTER GRILLE

4.

5.

Perform the registration procedure and Bluetooth connection procedure if the data communication module is replaced with a new part.

6.

2. BACKUP BATTERY
1.

Install the backup battery.

Install the battery cover.

Tightening torque:

Attach the tape as the target point for standard at the floor rearward of the vehicle as shown in the figure below.

 

Standard tape width is about 30 — 50 mm (1.181.97in) and brilliant color shall be used.
