EXHAUST(H4DO) > General Description 
CAUTION
EXHAUST(H4DO) > Front Exhaust Pipe 
REMOVAL
 

Vehicle components are extremely hot immediately after driving. Be wary of receiving burns from heated parts.

1.

Disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor. REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE > BATTERY

2.

Remove the crossmember support rear LH. FRONT SUSPENSION>Crossmember Support>REMOVAL

3.

Disconnect the front oxygen (A/F) sensor connector (A), rear oxygen sensor connector (B) and the ground cord (C).

4.

Separate the front exhaust pipe and rear exhaust pipe.

 

Suspend the rear exhaust pipe with rope etc.

5.

Remove the bolt which holds front exhaust pipe to hanger bracket.

6.

Remove the front exhaust pipe.

 

The front exhaust pipe is very heavy. Be careful not to drop it when removing.

EXHAUST(H4DO) > Front Exhaust Pipe 
INSTALLATION
1.

Set new gasket to the rear exhaust pipe.

2.

Set a new gasket, and temporarily install the front exhaust pipe.

 

Be sure to install the front exhaust pipe to the cylinder head.

3.

Install the bolts which secure front exhaust pipe to hanger bracket.

Tightening torque:

35 N·m (3.6kgf-m, 25.8ft-lb)

4.

Tighten the nuts which hold the front exhaust pipe.

Tightening torque:

30 N·m (3.1kgf-m, 22.1ft-lb)

5.

Connect the front exhaust pipe and rear exhaust pipe.

Tightening torque:

18 N·m (1.8kgf-m, 13.3ft-lb)

6.

Connect the front oxygen (A/F) sensor connector, rear oxygen sensor connector and the ground cord.

Tightening torque:

7.5N·m (0.8kgf-m, 5.5ft-lb)

7.

Install the crossmember support rear LH. FRONT SUSPENSION>Crossmember Support>INSTALLATION

8.

Connect the ground terminal to battery sensor. REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE > BATTERY

EXHAUST(H4DO) > Front Exhaust Pipe 
DISASSEMBLY
1.

Remove the front oxygen (A/F) sensor and rear oxygen sensor.

2.

Remove each exhaust cover.

EXHAUST(H4DO) > Front Exhaust Pipe 
ASSEMBLY
1.

Install each exhaust cover.

Tightening torque:

13 N·m (1.3kgf-m, 9.6ft-lb)

2.

Install the front oxygen (A/F) sensor and rear oxygen sensor.

EXHAUST(H4DO) > Front Exhaust Pipe 
INSPECTION
1.

Check that no leaks are found.

2.

Check for deformation, damage, or excessive rusting.

3.

Check for any foreign matter adhered.

4.

Check for clogging.

EXHAUST(H4DO) > Rear Exhaust Pipe 
REMOVAL
 

Vehicle components are extremely hot immediately after driving. Be wary of receiving burns from heated parts.

1.

Separate the front exhaust pipe and rear exhaust pipe.

 

Be careful not to let the muffler contact the rear bumper.

2.

Disconnect the rear exhaust pipe and muffler.

 

Be careful not to drop the rear exhaust pipe.

3.

Apply a coat of spray type lubricant to the mating area of cushion rubber.

4.

Remove the rear exhaust pipe.

5.

Remove the center exhaust cover.

 

Perform this procedure only when required.

EXHAUST(H4DO) > Rear Exhaust Pipe 
INSTALLATION
1.

Install the center exhaust cover.

Tightening torque:

18 N·m (1.8kgf-m, 13.3ft-lb)

2.

Set new gasket to the rear exhaust pipe. (Front side)

3.

Apply a coat of spray type lubricant to the mating area of cushion rubber.

4.

Install the rear exhaust pipe.

 

After installation, degrease the cushion rubber.

5.

Set a new gasket, and connect the rear exhaust pipe and muffler.

 

Be sure to use a new self-locking nut.

Tightening torque:

48 N·m (4.9kgf-m, 35.4ft-lb)

6.

Connect the front exhaust pipe and rear exhaust pipe.

Tightening torque:

18 N·m (1.8kgf-m, 13.3ft-lb)

EXHAUST(H4DO) > Rear Exhaust Pipe 
INSPECTION
1.

Check that no leaks are found.

2.

Check for deformation, damage, or excessive rusting.

3.

Check for any foreign matter adhered.

4.

Check for clogging.

5.

Check the cushion rubber for wear or crack.

EXHAUST(H4DO) > Muffler 
REMOVAL

2.

Apply a coat of spray type lubricant to the mating area of cushion rubber.

3.

Remove the muffler.

 

Be careful not to let the muffler contact the rear bumper.

4.

Remove the rear exhaust cover.

 

Perform this procedure only when required.

EXHAUST(H4DO) > Muffler 
INSTALLATION
1.

Install the rear exhaust cover.

Tightening torque:

10 N·m (1.0kgf-m, 7.4ft-lb)

2.

Apply a coat of spray type lubricant to the mating area of cushion rubber.

3.

Install the muffler.

 

After installation, degrease the cushion rubber.

4.

Set a new gasket, and connect the rear exhaust pipe and muffler.

 

Be sure to use a new self-locking nut.

Tightening torque:

48 N·m (4.9kgf-m, 35.4ft-lb)
