Inspection Procedure C-7: The windshield wipers compatible with the rain light sensor do not operate normally.


caution Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM


If the windshield wiper compatible with the rain light sensor does not work normally, connector(s), wiring harness in the LIN bus lines, the ETACS-ECU, the rain light sensor or the column switch may be defective.

PROBABLE CAUSES



DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Check the windshield wiper.


When the wiper switch is operated, check that the windshield wiper should work normally.

Q. Are the headlamps in good condition?

Go to Step 2.

First, repair the windshield wiper. Refer to trouble symptom chart .

STEP 2. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code.


Check that ETACS-ECU sets a diagnosis code.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Refer to diagnosis code chart .

Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Retest the system.


(1)Temporarily replace the rain light sensor.
(2)The windshield wipers compatible with the rain light sensor should work normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Replace the rain light sensor.

Replace the ETACS-ECU. Then perform the variant coding and write the VIN data (Refer to GROUP 00, Precautions Before Service - How to Perform Variant Coding ).
