COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

ETACS-ECU sets diagnosis code No.B1743 when the power supply circuit of the hazard warning lamp is abnormal or the hazard warning lamp fuse is blown.

PROBABLE CAUSES

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Check the hazard warning lamp fuse.

Check if the hazard warning lamp fuse is blown.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.
Perform the inspection for a blown fuse (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - Inspection Service Points for a Blown Fuse ). Repair the fuse, and then go to Step 5.

STEP 2. Connector check: B-234 ETACS-ECU connector

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.

Repair the defective connector. Go to Step 5.

STEP 3. Voltage measurement at the B-234 ETACS-ECU connector.

(1)Remove the ETACS-ECU, and measure at the junction block side.

(2)Check the voltage between B-234 ETACS-ECU connector terminal No.5 and body earth
OK: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.

Go to Step 4.

STEP 4. Check the wiring harness between B-234 ETACS-ECU connector terminal No.5 and the fusible link (1).

note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check junction block connector B-208, and repair if necessary.

  • Check the power supply line for open circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ). Go to Step 5.

Repair the wiring harness. Go to Step 5.

STEP 5. Check whether the diagnosis code is reset.

Check if diagnosis code No.B1743 is set.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Replace the ETACS-ECU. Then perform the variant coding and write the VIN data (Refer to GROUP 00, Precautions Before Service - How to Perform Variant Coding ).
