Inspection Procedure J-1: The column switch (lighting and wiper switch) signal is not received.



caution Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input signal circuit is normal.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM


Input signal from the column switch is used to operate the functions below. If the signal is abnormal, these functions will not work normally.


PROBABLE CAUSES




DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code.


Check that ETACS-ECU sets a diagnosis code.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Refer to diagnosis code chart .

Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Check the column switch.


Refer to GROUP 54A - column switch .

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.

Replace the column switch.

STEP 3. Check the column switch signal.


Check that the signals from the column switch are received.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The procedure is complete.

Replace the lighting switch. Go to Step 4.

STEP 4. Replace the ECU


Check that the signals from the column switch are received.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The procedure is complete.

Replace the ETACS-ECU. Then perform the variant coding and write the VIN data (Refer to GROUP 00, Precautions Before Service - How to Perform Variant Coding ).
