caution Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM


If the comfort flashing function does not work normally, the column switch or the ETACS-ECU may be defective. Alternately, there may be the case where the customise function has disabled the comfort flashing function, or the column switch ready-to-operate time is set to minimum 0.1 second.

PROBABLE CAUSES




DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Check the customise function.


Check whether the comfort flashing function has been disabled or the ready-to-operate time is set to 0.1 second.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Use the customise function to enable the comfort flashing function or set the ready-to-operate time to 0.4 second (default setting). Refer to .

Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code.


Check that ETACS-ECU sets a diagnosis code.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Refer to diagnosis code chart .

Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check that the turn-signal lamps operate.


Check that the turn-signal lamps illuminate normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.

Refer to inspection procedure G-1 "The turn-signal lamps do not illuminate ."

STEP 4. Replace the ECU.


(1)Replace the column switch.
(2)Check that the comfort flashing function works normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The procedure is complete.

Replace the ETACS-ECU. Then perform the variant coding and write the VIN data (Refer to GROUP 00, Precautions Before Service - How to Perform Variant Coding ).
