Inspection Procedure H-5: The rear fog lamp indicator does not illuminate normally.



caution Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM


If the rear fog lamp indicator does not illuminate normally, connector(s), wiring harness in the CAN bus lines, the ETACS-ECU or the combination meter may be defective.

PROBABLE CAUSES




DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Check the rear fog lamp.


When the rear fog lamp switch is operated, check that the rear fog lamp illuminate/go off normally.

Q. Is the rear fog lamp operating properly?

Go to Step 2.

Repair the rear fog lamp. Refer to trouble symptom chart .

STEP 2. M.U.T.-III other system diagnosis code


Check whether the combination meter-related diagnosis code is set.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Diagnose the combination meter (Refer to GROUP 54A - Troubleshooting <COLT> or <COLT CZ3>).

Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. M.U.T.-III CAN bus diagnostics.


Use the M.U.T.-III to diagnose the CAN bus lines.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.

Repair the CAN bus line (Refer to GROUP 54C, Troubleshooting ).

STEP 4. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code.


Check that ETACS-ECU sets a diagnosis code.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Refer to diagnosis code chart .

Go to Step 5.

STEP 5. M.U.T.-III other system actuator test


Perform the actuator test for the combination meter, and check that the rear fog lamp indicator illuminates (Refer to GROUP 54A - Combination Meter ).

Q. Is the check result normal?

Replace the ETACS-ECU. Then perform the variant coding and write the VIN data (Refer to GROUP 00, Precautions Before Service - How to Perform Variant Coding ).

Replace the combination meter. Then perform the variant coding (Refer to GROUP 00 - Precautions Before Service - How to Perform Variant Coding ).
