Inspection Procedure D-2: The rear wiper does not stop at the specified park position. <COLT CZ3>

caution Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

If the rear wiper does not stop normally within the predetermined range, the rear wiper motor or the ETACS-ECU may be defective.

PROBABLE CAUSES

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Connector check: E-10 rear wiper motor connector

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.

Repair the connector.

STEP 2. Check the rear wiper motor.

Refer to GROUP 51 - Rear wiper and washer .

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.
Replace the rear wiper motor.

STEP 3. Voltage measurement at the E-10 rear wiper motor connector.

(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Turn the ignition switch to the "ACC" position.

(3)Check the voltage between E-10 rear wiper motor connector terminal No.1 and body earth
OK: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.

Go to Step 4.

STEP 4. Check the wiring harness between ignition switch (ACC) and E-10 rear wiper motor connector terminal No.1.

note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector E-11and junction block connectors B-228, B-229, and repair if necessary.

  • Check the power supply line for open or short circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Perform troubleshooting for ignition switch. Refer to GROUP 54A - Ignition switch .

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 5. Connector check: B-234 ETACS-ECU connector

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.

Repair the connector.

STEP 6. Check the wiring harness between B-234 ETACS-ECU connector terminal No.13 and E-10 rear wiper motor connector terminal No.2.

note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector E-11, junction block connectors B-228, and repair if necessary.

  • Check the power supply line for open or short circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 7.

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 7. Retest the system.

Check that the rear wiper auto stop function works normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace the ETACS-ECU. Then perform the variant coding and write the VIN data (Refer to GROUP 00, Precautions Before Service - How to Perform Variant Coding ).
