Inspection Procedure 2: Steering wheel audio remote control switch illumination does not come on.







TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)


The power supply circuit to the steering wheel audio remote control switch, the steering wheel audio remote control switch, the combination meter, or the clock spring may be defective.

PROBABLE CAUSES




DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Connector check: B-248 steering wheel audio remote control switch connector




Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.

Repair the defective connector.

STEP 2. Voltage measurement at B-248 steering wheel audio remote control switch connector.




(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Turn the ignition switch to the "ACC" position, and turn the tail lamp switch to the "ON" position.

(3)Measure the voltage between terminal No.1 and body earth.
OK: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.

Go to Step 5.

STEP 3. Check the wiring harness between B-248 steering wheel audio remote control switch connector terminal No.5 and body earth.





  • Check the earth wire for open circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 4. Check the steering wheel audio remote control switch.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 10.
Replace the steering wheel voice control switch.

STEP 5. Connector check: B-244 and B-242 clock spring connectors




Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.

Repair the defective connector.

STEP 6. Check the clock spring.


Check whether the clock spring is in good condition (Refer to GROUP 52B - Driver’s, front passenger’s Air Bag Module(s) and Clock Spring ).

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 7.
Replace the clock spring.

STEP 7. Check the wiring harness between C-248 steering wheel audio remote control switch connector terminal No.1 and B-244 clock spring connector terminal No.1.





  • Check the power supply lines open and short circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 8.

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 8. Check if the tail lamp illuminates normally.


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 9.
Diagnose the headlamp and tail lamp. Refer to GROUP 54B, Troubleshooting <COLT> or <COLT CZ3/CZT>.

STEP 9. Connector check: B-231 junction block connector




Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 10.

Repair the defective connector.

STEP 10. Check the wiring harness between B-231 junction block connector terminal No.11 and B-242 clock spring connector terminal No.6.







  • Check the power supply lines open and short circuit.


note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check joint connector (1) B-23, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?


    Go to Step 11.

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 11. Retest the system


Check whether the illumination of the steering wheel audio remote control switch comes on normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace the steering wheel audio remote control switch.
