Code No.B1723: Transponder Communication Failure




COMMENT ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM


This code will be set if the transponder data from the key does not correspond with the encrypted codes stored in the ETACS-ECU, or the system cannot communicate with the transponder due to an abnormal communication data (noise or time-out).

PROBABLE CAUSES




DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Remove the objects which have a possibility to interfere with the communication and then check.


(1)Remove all of the things other than Mitsubishi genuine components (air cleaner or additional lighting and so on). In addition, move the other ignition key or magnets away from the vehicle.
(2)Erase the diagnosis code.
(3)Turn the ignition switch to "ON" position.
(4)Check if the diagnosis code is set.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Go to Step 2.

The procedure is complete.

STEP 2. Register the ignition key again and check.


(1)Register the ignition key again. (Refer to .)
(2)Erase the diagnosis code.
(3)Turn the ignition switch to "ON" position.
(4)Check if the diagnosis code is set.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Go to Step 3.

The procedure is complete.

STEP 3. Check by using the registered ignition key.


(1)Erase the diagnosis code.
(2)Turn the ignition switch to the ON position by using the other registered ignition key.
(3)Check if the diagnosis code is set.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Go to Step 4.

Memorize the diagnosis code and replace the ignition key.

STEP 4. Replace all registered ignition keys and check.


(1)Replace all registered ignition keys and then register the whole new ignition key set.
(2)Erase the diagnosis code.
(3)Turn the ignition switch to "ON" position.
(4)Check if the diagnosis code is set.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Replace the ETACS-ECU.

The procedure is complete.
