If only some ignition keys cannot be registered, the ignition key itself may be defective. Alternatively, if an ignition key cannot be registered, the ETACS-ECU may be defective.

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Register the ignition key.


Q. Can no ignition keys be registered?

Go to Step 2.

Replace the ignition key which cannot be registered. Then register it (Refer to ).

STEP 2. M.U.T.-III other system diagnosis code.


Q. Is an immobilizer system diagnosis code stored in the MPI system, diesel fuel system or the ETACS-ECU?

MPI system diagnosis code : Refer to GROUP 13A, Troubleshooting <1100>, GROUP 13B, Troubleshooting <1300, 1500 (except T/C) > or GROUP 13C, Troubleshooting <1500 (T/C) >.

ETACS-ECU diagnosis code : Refer to .

No diagnosis code : Go to Step 3

STEP 3. Retest the system.


Check that the ignition key can be registered.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The procedure is complete.

Replace the ETACS-ECU. Then perform the variant coding and write the VIN data (Refer to GROUP 00, Precautions Before Service - How to Perform Variant Coding ). Then perform the matching (Refer to ).
