Inspection Procedure 1: Keyless Entry System does not Work.

caution Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

If the keyless entry system does not work normally, the input signal circuits to the components below or the ETACS-ECU may be defective.

  • Key reminder switch <RH drive vehicles>
  • All of the door switches
  • Keyless entry transmitter
  • Driver’s door lock actuator

PROBABLE CAUSES

  • Malfunction of the key reminder switch <RH drive vehicles>
  • Malfunction of the door switches
  • Malfunction of the keyless entry transmitter
  • Malfunction of the driver’s door lock actuator
  • Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU
  • Damaged harness wires and connectors

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Check the operation of the central door locking system.

Check that the central door locking system works normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.
Refer to .

STEP 2. Check the power supply circuit.

When the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK (OFF) position, check if the hazard warning lamps illuminate.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.
Refer to GROUP 54B, Inspection Procedure A-1 "Check the battery power supply circuit to the ETACS-ECU ."

STEP 3. M.U.T.-III data list

Check the input signal from the drive’s door switch and the transmitter.

The driver’s door switch signal is not received. : Refer to GROUP 54B, Inspection Procedure J-7 "The front door switch signal is not received <COLT (LH drive vehicles)>, <COLT CZ3 (LH drive vehicles)>, <COLT (RH drive vehicles)> or <COLT CZ3 (RH drive vehicles)>."
The keyless entry transmitter signal is not received. : Refer to .

STEP 4. Connector check: B-239 key reminder switch connector

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.

Repair the defective connector.

STEP 5. Check the key reminder switch.

Refer to GROUP 54A, Ignition switch .

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.
Replace the key reminder switch.

STEP 6. Resistance measurement at the the B-239 key reminder switch connector.

(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.

(2)Continuity between B-239 key reminder switch connector terminal No.4 and body earth
OK: Continuity (Less than 2 Ω)

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 8.

Go to Step 7.

STEP 7. Check the wiring harness between B-239 key reminder switch connector terminal No.4 and the body earth.

  • Check the earth wires for open circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 8. Connector check: B-233 ETACS-ECU connector

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 9.

Repair the defective connector.

STEP 9. Check the wiring harness between B-239 key reminder switch connector terminal No.9 and B-233 ETACS-ECU connector terminal No.53.

  • Check the input line for open circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 10.

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 10. Connector check: C-17 (front: LH) <RH drive vehicles>, C-32 (front: RH) <LH drive vehicles>, C-07 <COLT>, C-12 <COLT> door switch connectors or E-06 tailgate switch connector

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 11.

Repair the defective connector.

STEP 11. Check the installation condition.

Check that the door switch is installed on the body correctly.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 12.
Correct the installation condition.

STEP 12. Check the door switch.

Refer to .

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 13.
Replace the door switch.

STEP 13. Check the tailgate switch.

Refer to <COLT> or <COLT CZ3>.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 14.
Replace the tailgate switch.

STEP 14. Check the wiring harness from C-17 (front: LH) <RH drive vehicles>, C-32 (front: RH) <LH drive vehicles>, C-07 <COLT>, C-12 <COLT> door switch connectors or E-06 tailgate switch connector terminal No.2 to B-233 ETACS-ECU connector terminal No.61.

note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector E-11 (tailgate), junction block connector (2) B-24, and repair if necessary.

  • Check the input line for open circuit.
