Inspection Procedure 1: Dead Lock System does not Work at All.



caution Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.




COMMENT ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM


If the dead lock system does not work at all, the ETACS-ECU may be defective.

PROBABLE CAUSES



  • Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU
  • Damaged harness wires and connectors

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Check the operation of the keyless entry system.


If the keyless entry system is operated, check that the doors can be locked and unlocked normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.
Refer to ."

STEP 2. Check the power supply circuit.


When the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK (OFF) position, check if the hazard warning lamps illuminate.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.
Refer to GROUP 54B, Inspection Procedure A-1 "Check the battery power supply circuit to the ETACS-ECU" .

STEP 3. Connector check: B-234 ETACS-ECU connector



Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.

Repair the defective connector.

STEP 4. Check the wiring harness between B-234 ETACS-ECU connector terminal No.1 and fusible link (6).




note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check junction block connector B-208, and repair if necessary.

  • Check the power supply line for open or short circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 5. Retest the system.


Check that the dead lock system works normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace the ETACS-ECU. Then perform the variant coding (Refer to GROUP 00, Precautions Before Service - How to Perform Variant Coding ).
