Code No.C1396: Active stability system control temporarily disabled (Engine torque request rejected)


caution
  • If there is any problem in the CAN bus lines, an incorrect diagnosis code may be set. Prior to this diagnosis, diagnose the CAN bus lines (Refer to GROUP 54C, CAN Bus Diagnosis Table ).
  • Whenever ECU is replaced, ensure that the CAN bus lines are normal.

OPERATION
TCL/ASC-ECU receives engine system-related signal from the engine-ECU via the CAN bus lines.

DIAGNOSIS CODE SET CONDITIONS
When the torque request rejection signal from the engine-ECU or the engine-A-M/T-ECU shows rejection, TCL/ASC-ECU determines that the malfunction has occurred and sets this diagnosis.

PROBABLE CAUSES

  • Malfunction of engine-ECU or engine-A-M/T-ECU
  • Malfunction of TCL/ASC-ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. M.U.T.-III CAN bus diagnostics
Use the M.U.T.-III to diagnose the CAN bus lines.

Q. Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Repair the CAN bus lines. (Refer to GROUP 54C - Troubleshooting .) On completion, go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Diagnosis code recheck after resetting CAN bus lines

Q. Is the diagnosis code No.C1396 set?
Go to Step 3.
This diagnosis is complete.

STEP 3. M.U.T.-III Diagnosis code of other systems
Check if a diagnosis code is set in the engine-ECU or engine-A-M/T-ECU.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?
YES <134 or 3A9> : Diagnose the engine-ECU. Then go to Step 5.
YES <135 or 4A9> : Diagnose the engine-ECU or engine-A-M/T-ECU. Then go to Step 5.
YES <4G1> : Diagnose the engine-ECU. Then go to Step 5.
Go to Step 4.

STEP 4. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code
Check if the diagnosis code other than code No.C1396 is set from TCL/ASC-ECU.

Q. Is the diagnosis code other than code No.C1396 set?
Troubleshoot for the relevant diagnosis code. (Refer to .)
NO <134 or 3A9> : Replace the engine-ECU (Refer to GROUP 13A - Engine-ECU .) Then go to Step 5.
NO <135 or 4A9> : Replace the engine-ECU or Engine-A-M/T-ECU (Refer to GROUP 13B - Engine-ECU, Engine-A-M/T-ECU .) Then go to Step 5.
NO <4G1> : Replace the engine-ECU (Refer to GROUP 13C - Engine-ECU .) Then go to Step 5.

STEP 5. Diagnosis code recheck
Check again if the diagnosis code is set.
(1)Erase the diagnosis code.
(2)Ignition switch: "LOCK" (OFF)
(3)Ignition switch: "ON"

Q. Is the diagnosis code No.C1396 set?
Replace the hydraulic unit (integrated with TCL/ASC-ECU) (Refer to ).
This diagnosis is complete.
