BRAKE PEDAL CHECK AND ADJUSTMENT

caution Do not apply grease or lubricant to the switch and the switch installation section to avoid malfunction of the switch. In addition, do not use gloves which have grease on them.

BRAKE PEDAL HEIGHT CHECK

note The brake pedal assembly cannot be adjusted structurally and so neither the brake pedal clevis pin play nor the brake pedal free play are set.
1.Turn up the carpet, etc. under the brake pedal.

2.Measure the brake pedal height as illustrated.
Standard value (A): 142.9 - 145.9 mm
(From the surface of dash panel to the face of pedal pad)
3.If the brake pedal height is not within the standard value, it is probably the result of either air in the hydraulic system or a faulty master cylinder or brake.

BRAKE PEDAL PLAY CHECK AND BRAKE PEDAL-TO-DASH PANEL CLEARANCE CHECK

1.Confirm that the brake pedal lateral play (measured at the face of the pedal pad) and the distance between the brake pedal (the face of the pedal pad) and the dash panel when the brake is disengaged are within the standard value ranges.

Standard value (B): 1.5 mm or less
Standard value (C): 70 mm or more
(From the surface of dash panel to the face of pedal pad)
2.If the brake pedal lateral play and the distance between the brake pedal and the dash panel when the brake is applied is not within the standard values, it is probably the result of either air in the hydraulic system or a faulty master cylinder or brake. Bleed the air, and inspect the master cylinder or brake.
