GENERAL INFORMATION

The cruise control system, which provides the constant speed driving without depressing the accelerator pedal at a vehicle speed determined by the driver (within the range from approximately 40 to 200 km/h <M/T> or approximately 40 to 170 km/h <Automated manual transmission>).
For this cruise control system, in conjunction with the electronic throttle valve control system, the engine-ECU <M/T> or engine automated manual transmission-ECU (engine-A-M/T-ECU) <Automated manual transmission> electronically controls the throttle valve.

COMPONENTS AND FUNCTIONS

Component
Function
ABS-ECU <Vehicles without TCL/ASC> or TCL/ASC-ECU <Vehicles with TCL/ASC>

  • Outputs the cruise control cancel signal to the engine-ECU <M/T> or engine-A-M/T-ECU <Automated manual transmission>. <Vehicles with TCL/ASC>
  • The stop lamp switch signal is sent to the engine-ECU <M/T> or engine-A-M/T-ECU <Automated manual transmission>.
  • The vehicle speed signal is sent to the engine-ECU <M/T> or engine-A-M/T-ECU <Automated manual transmission>.

Accelerator pedal position sensor
Informs the engine-ECU <M/T> or engine-A-M/T-ECU <Automated manual transmission> of the accelerator pedal depression.
Allshift lever assembly <Automated manual transmission>
Because the constant speed driving is cancelled by the shift lever operation, it detects the "s.b.", "R" and "N" position.
Clutch switch <M/T (except AS&G)> or clutch switch A <M/T (AS&G)>
The constant speed driving is cancelled by the clutch operation, the clutch pedal operation is detected.
Cruise control indicator lamp

  • It is included in the combination meter and illuminates when the "ON/OFF" switch is pressed (cruise control system: ON).
  • With the flashing of indicator lamp, read the diagnosis code for the cruise control system.

Cruise control switch
"ON/OFF" switch
Power switch for cruise control system.
"ACC/RES" switch
Vehicle speed is set with the "ACC/RES" switch and "COAST/SET" switch.
"COAST/SET" switch
"CANCEL" switch
Cancels the constant speed driving.
Diagnosis connector

  • If the M.U.T.-III is connected, the input check code from the engine-ECU <M/T> or engine-A-M/T-ECU <Automated manual transmission> can be read.

engine-ECU <M/T> or engine-A-M/T-ECU <Automated manual transmission>

  • Based on the input signal from sensors and switches, the throttle opening angle indication signal is sent.
  • Based on the input signal from each sensors and switches, the shift control signal is sent to the A/T control section. <Automated manual transmission>
  • Based on the vehicle speed signal from the ABS-ECU <Vehicles without TCL/ASC> or TCL/ASC-ECU <Vehicles with TCL/ASC>, it calculates the vehicle speed.
  • Based on the shift lever "s.b.", "R" and "N" position signal of the allshift lever assembly, it cancels constant speed driving.
  • To the cruise control indicator lamp, the cruise control system ON/OFF signal is sent.
  • The diagnosis code of the cruise control system are sent to the cruise control indicator lamp.
  • The input check code of the cruise control system are sent to the diagnosis connector.

Stop lamp switch

  • The constant speed driving is cancelled by the brake operation, the brake pedal operation is detected.
  • As for the stop lamp switch, two built-in switches, the stop lamp switch which is also used for the stop lamp illumination and the brake switch which is used exclusively for the cruise control, are integrated, and thus the reliability is enhanced.

Throttle valve control servo
The throttle valve opens and closes in response to the throttle angle control signal from the engine-ECU <M/T> or engine-A-M/T-ECU <Automated manual transmission>.
Throttle position sensor
Informs the engine-ECU <M/T> or engine-A-M/T-ECU <Automated manual transmission> of the throttle valve opening angle.
