OXYGEN SENSOR HEATER CONTROL

The oxygen sensor responds sluggishly when the exhaust gas temperature is low. For this reason, current is applied to the oxygen sensor heater when the exhaust gas temperature is low (such as immediately after the engine has been started, while the engine is being warmed up, or while the fuel is cut off during deceleration) in order to improve the response of the sensor by raising its temperature. Furthermore, the engine-ECU or engine-A-M/T-ECU varies the duty cycle values in accordance with the driving conditions and the temperature conditions of the oxygen sensor in order to accelerate the activation of the oxygen sensor.
