Code No. P1970: Torque Monitoring

FUNCTION

Compare the difference between the actual torque signal and the requested torque signal.

TROUBLE JUDGMENT

Check Condition

Ignition switch is "ON" position.

Judgment Criterion

The difference between the actual torque signal and the request torque signal exceeds the specified value.

PROBABLE CAUSE

Failed air flow sensor
Failed accelerator pedal position sensor
AIr drawn in from gaps in gasket, seals, etc.
Failed throttle valve control servo
Harness damage in throttle valve control servo circuit or loose connector contact
There is some contamination around air flow sensor
Failed supercharging pressure control system
Failed engine-ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code

Q. Diagnosis code set?

	Inspection chart for diagnosis code (Refer to ).

	Go to Step 2 .

STEP 2. M.U.T.-III data list

Refer to Data List Reference Table .

Item No. 11: Accelerator pedal position sensor (main)
Item No. 12: Accelerator pedal position sensor (sub)
Item No. 80: Air flow sensor

Q. Is the check results normal?

	Go to Step 3 .

	Perform the diagnosis code classified check procedure for the sensor that has shown an abnormal data value (Refer to Inspection Chart for Diagnosis Code ).

STEP 3. Check for intake of air from gaps in gasket, seals, etc.

Q. Is the check result normal?

	Go to Step 4 .

	Repair for intake of air from gaps in gasket, seals, etc.

STEP 4. Check air flow sensor

Check that there is not contamination around air flow sensor.

Q. Is the check result normal?

	Go to Step 5 .

	Repair.

STEP 5. Check the throttle valve control servo itself.

Check the throttle valve control servo itself (Refer to ).

Q. Is the check result normal?

	Go to Step 6 .

	Replace the throttle body assembly.

STEP 6. Connector check: A-118 electronic-controlled throttle valve connector and A-34 engine-ECU connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 7 .

Repair or replace the connector.

STEP 7. Check harness between A-118 (terminal No. 6) electronic-controlled throttle valve connector and A-34 (terminal No. 7) engine-ECU connector.

Check output line for damage.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 8 .

Repair the damaged harness wire.

STEP 8. Check harness between A-118 (terminal No. 5) electronic-controlled throttle valve connector and A-34 (terminal No. 22) engine-ECU connector.

Check output line for damage.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 9 .

Repair the damaged harness wire.

STEP 9. Check supercharging pressure.

Check supercharging pressure (Refer to GROUP 15 - On-vehicle Service - Turbocharger Supercharging Pressure Check <4G1> ).

Q. Is the check result normal?

	Go to Step 10 .

	Repair.

STEP 10. Check supercharging pressure control system.

Check supercharging pressure control system (Refer to GROUP 15 - On-vehicle Service - Supercharging Pressure Control System Check <4G1> ).

Q. Is the check result normal?

	Go to Step 11 .

	Repair.

STEP 11. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code.

Reconfirmation of diagnosis code.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

	Replace the engine-ECU then perform the variant coding (Refer to GROUP 00 - Precautions Before Service - How to Perform Variant Coding ).

	Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).
