Code No. P1962: Trustful Check Throttle Position Sensor (Sub)

FUNCTION

Compare the actual inlet manifold pressure through manifold absolute pressure sensor with the assumed inlet manifold pressure through the throttle position sensor (sub) signal.

TROUBLE JUDGMENT

Check Conditions

Ignition switch is "ON" position.
Manifold absolute pressure sensor is normal

Judgment Criterion

The difference between the actual and the assumed inlet manifold pressure through the throttle position sensor (sub) is 27 kPa or more.

PROBABLE CAUSES

Failed throttle position sensor (sub)
Damaged throttle position sensor circuit (sub)
Air drawn in from gaps in gasket, seals, etc.
Failed engine-ECU or engine-A-M/T-ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code

Q. Diagnosis code set?

	Inspection chart for diagnosis code (Refer to ).

	Go to Step 2 .

STEP 2. M.U.T.-III data list

Refer to Data List Reference Table .

Item No. 14: Throttle position sensor (sub)

Q. Is the check results normal?

	Go to Step 3 .

	Check throttle position sensor (sub) circuit low input (Refer to Code No. P0222 <135>, <4A9>), Check throttle position sensor (sub) circuit high input (Refer to Code No. P0223 <135>, <4A9>).

STEP 3. Check for intake of air from gaps in gasket, seals, etc.

Q. Is the check result normal?

	Replace the engine-ECU or engine-A-M/T-ECU then perform the variant coding (Refer to GROUP 00 - Precautions Before Service - How to Perform Variant Coding ).

	Repair for intake of air from gaps in gasket, seals, etc.
