DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Check the throttle valve control servo itself.

  • Check the throttle valve control servo itself (Refer to ).

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2 .
Replace the throttle body assembly.

STEP 2. Connector check: A-118 electronic-controlled throttle valve connector and A-34 engine-ECU connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3 .

Repair or replace the connector.

STEP 3. Perform resistance measurement at A-35 engine-ECU connector.

  • Disconnect connector, and measure at harness side.
  • Resistance between terminal No. 93 and earth, No. 108 and earth.
OK: Continuity (2 Ω or less)

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4 .

  • Check intermediate connector A-14, and repair if necessary. If intermediate connector is normal, check and repair harness between engine-ECU connector and earth

    1. Check and repair harness between A-35 (terminal No. 93) engine-ECU connector and earth.
    2. Check and repair harness between A-35 (terminal No. 108) engine-ECU connector and earth.

STEP 4. Check harness between A-118 (terminal No. 6) electronic-controlled throttle valve connector and A-34 (terminal No. 7) engine-ECU connector.

  • Check output line for short circuit and damage.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5 .

Repair the damaged harness wire.

STEP 5. Check harness between A-118 (terminal No. 5) electronic-controlled throttle valve connector and A-34 (terminal No. 22) engine-ECU connector.

  • Check output line for short circuit and damage.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6 .

Repair the damaged harness wire.

STEP 6. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code.

  • Reconfirmation of diagnosis code.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Replace the engine-ECU then perform the variant coding (Refer to GROUP 00 - Precautions Before Service - How to Perform Variant Coding ).
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).
