Code No. P0500: Vehicle Speed Signal System

FUNCTION

The vehicle speed signals are input to engine-ECU or engine-A-M/T-ECU from ABS-ECU <Vehicle without TCL/ASC> or TCL/ASC-ECU <Vehicle with TCL/ASC> through CAN communication.

TROUBLE JUDGMENT

Check Conditions

2 seconds later after the engine has started up
Engine speed: 2,500 r/min or more
Under the high load operation

Judgment Criterion

The vehicle speed, calculated by the information of the wheel speed received from the ABS-ECU <Vehicles without TCL/ASC system> or ABS/ASC-ECU <Vehicles with TCL/ASC system>, is not charged.

PROBABLE CAUSES

Failed ABS-ECU <Vehicle without TCL/ASC>
Failed TCL/ASC-ECU <Vehicle with TCL/ASC>
Failed CAN
Failed engine-ECU or engine-A-M/T-ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code

Q. Is diagnosis code related with CAN communication displayed?

	Inspection chart for diagnosis code (Refer to ).

	Go to Step 2 .

STEP 2. M.U.T.-III other system diagnosis code

Confirm whether the diagnosis codes are output from ABS-ECU <Vehicle without TCL/ASC> or TCL/ASC-ECU <Vehicle with TCL/ASC>.

Q. Is the diagnosis code output?

	Perform the troubleshooting of ABS (Refer to GROUP 35B - Troubleshooting - Check Chart for Diagnosis Code <Vehicle without TCL/ASC>), (Refer to GROUP 35C - Troubleshooting - Check Chart for Diagnosis Code <Vehicle with TCL/ASC> ).

	Replace the engine-ECU or engine-A-M/T-ECU then perform the variant coding (Refer to GROUP 00 - Precautions Before Service - How to Perform Variant Coding ).
