Inspection Procedure 33: Auto Stop & Go (AS&G) System Abnormal (Auto Start Not Carried Out) <Vehicles with AS&G system>

caution

If the following motions are carried out during the auto stop even one time, the engine-ECU blinks the AS&G indicator lamp in the combination-meter and prohibits the auto start. Even if trying to return to the previous status after that, the auto start is prohibited. When restarted, the engine must be started by the key.

In case the hood is opened
In case the driver’s seat belt is unfastened

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

The failed engine and the AS&G system malfunction can possibly cause this. The engine-ECU, however, can possibly prohibit the auto start, depending on the vehicle status or the ambient conditions.

PROBABLE CAUSES

Failed AS&G system
Failed clutch switch (A)
Shorted clutch switch (A) circuit, or connector damage
Failed clutch switch (B)
Open or shorted clutch switch (B) circuit, harness damage, or connector damage
Failed engine-ECU

STEP 1. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

	Inspection chart for diagnosis code (Refer to ).

	Go to Step 2 .

Q. Are the check results normal?

	Go to Step 3 .

	Perform the diagnosis code classified check procedure for the sensor that has shown an abnormal data value (Refer to Inspection Chart for Diagnosis Code ).

STEP 3. Check the trouble symptoms.

Q. Does trouble symptom persist?

	Replace the engine-ECU then perform the variant coding (Refer to GROUP 00 - Precautions Before Service - How to Perform Variant Coding ).
