SIDE AIR DAM





REMOVAL SERVICE POINTS



SIDE AIR DAM REMOVAL


1.In order to protect the body side, apply protection tape to adjacent areas around the installed side air dam.
2.Remove the side air dam attaching clips.
3.
caution Do not allow the piano wire to contact the side sill on the body side.

Using a piano wire and glass adhesive knife, cut off the side air dam adhesive as shown in the illustration.
(1) First, cut off centre part of the adhesive by using a glass adhesive knife.
(2) Next, cut off front and rear parts of the adhesive by using a piano wire.
4. Remove the side air dam.

caution
  • Be careful not to remove more adhesive than is necessary.
  • Be careful also not to damage the paintwork on the body surface with the knife. If the paintwork is damaged, repair the damaged area with repair paint or anti-rust agent.
6. Use a knife to cut away the remaining adhesive on body side uniformly so that the adhesive thickness is within 2 mm.
7. When re-using the side air dam, use a knife to cut away the remaining adhesive on the side air dam uniformly so that the adhesive thickness is within 2 mm.

INSTALLATION SERVICE POINTS



SIDE AIR DAM INSTALLATION


1.<When using a new side air dam.>
caution Leave the degreased parts for 3 or more minutes to dry well, before starting on the next step. Do not touch the degreased parts.
(1) Use isopropyl alcohol to degrease the side air dam.
(2) Apply the primer and adhesive.
(3) Install the side air dam by the same procedure as for the windshield.

1.<When re-using the side air dam.>
caution Leave the degreased parts for 3 or more minutes to dry well, before starting on the next step. Do not touch the degreased parts.
(1) Use isopropyl alcohol to degrease the side air dam.
(2) Apply the adhesive.
(3) Install the side air dam.

TAILGATE SPOILER <1500 MPI-T/C>







REMOVAL SERVICE POINTS



TAILGATE SPOILER REMOVAL


1.In order to protect the tailgate window glass, apply protection tape to adjacent areas around the installed tailgate spoiler.
2.Apply protection tape onto the tailgate and tailgate spoiler to avoid the spoiler from dropping.
3.Remove the tailgate spoiler attaching screws.

4.
caution Do not allow the piano wire to contact the tailgate window glass.
Using the piano wire, cut off the tailgate spoiler adhesive as shown in the illustration.
5.Remove the tailgate spoiler.
6.Remove the damaged gasket (when re-using the spoiler).

caution
  • Be careful not to remove more adhesive than is necessary.
  • Be careful also not to damage the paintwork on the tailgate surface with a knife. If the paintwork is damaged, repair the damaged area with repair paint or anti-rust agent.
When re-using the tailgate spoiler and tailgate window glass, use a knife to cut away the remaining adhesive uniformly so that the adhesive thickness is within 2 mm.

RIVET REMOVAL


caution Rivet chips which enter the inside of tailgate may cause noise. Ensure that the chips are removed clearly.

Use a drill (4.0 mm) to break the rivet, and remove it.

INSTALLATION SERVICE POINTS



RIVET INSTALLATION



Use a rivet tool to attach the rivet by the following procedures.
1.Insert the rivet into the tailgate outer panel and tailgate spoiler bracket.
2.Place the rivet tool over section A of the rivet.
3.While pushing the flange surface of the rivet with the rivet tool, press the handle of the tool.
4.Thin part of section A of the rivet will break and it will be attached in place.

TAILGATE SPOILER INSTALLATION



1.<When using a new tailgate spoiler.>
caution Leave the degreased parts for 3 or more minutes to dry well, before starting on the next step. Do not touch the degreased parts.
(1) Use isopropyl alcohol to degrease the tailgate spoiler.
(2) Install the gasket to the tailgate spoiler.
(3) Apply the primer and adhesive.
(4) When installing a new tailgate window glass, use a drill to open a through-hole on the bracket where the spoiler attaching bolt is inserted.
(5) Install the tailgate spoiler by the same procedure as for the windshield.
