If the following services are carried out, the engine-ECU cannot correctly identify the
neutral position. The neutral learning, therefore, must be carried out. If the learning of the
neutral position is not completed, the AS&G system is not operated.

- At installing, removing or replacing neutral position
sensor
- At installing, removing or replacing shift cover Cpl.
- At replacing engine-ECU
- At replacing transmission assembly
|

1.After the ignition switch is in "LOCK" (OFF) position, connect the M.U.T.-III to the diagnosis
connector. 2.Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and wait for more than 2 seconds. (but
do not start the engine.)

3.Place the shift lever in the 3rd position and then place in the 4th position. After that,
put it back into the neutral position. Next, place the shift lever to the left (the 1st and
2nd positions) twice to be brought back into the neutral position. 4.Release the shift lever and leave the shift lever in the neutral position for more
than 2 seconds.

During that time, do not start the engine. Pay attention to the vehicle not to produce
the vibration to it.

5.Select "MPI/GDI/DIESEL" from System select Screen of the M.U.T.-III. 6.Select "Special Function" from MPI/GDI/DIESEL Screen. 7.Select "Learning" from Special Function Screen. 8.Select "Neutral position learning" from Learning Screen 9.Depress the OK button to learn the neutral position. 10.Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK (OFF) position and wait for more than 15 seconds. 11.Again, turn the ignition switch to the ON position to confirm the following service
data of the M.U.T.-III. If the message is different, carry out the learning of the neutral position
again.
