Liftgate/decklid ajar output short to ground

DETECTION CONDITION

Short to GND in wiring harness between PJB and trunk lid latch switch/liftgate latch switch

POSSIBLE CAUSE

• Short to GND in wiring harness between PJB terminal J-06 Z and trunk lid latch switch terminal B (4SD)
• Short to GND in wiring harness between PJB terminal J-06 X and liftgate latch switch terminal B (5HB)
• Trunk lid latch switch malfunction (4SD)
• Liftgate latch switch malfunction (5HB)
• PJB malfunction

INSPECT TRUNK LID LATCH SWITCH/LIFTGATE LATCH SWITCH CONNECTOR
• Disconnect the trunk lid latch switch/liftgate latch switch connector.
• Inspect the trunk lid latch switch/liftgate latch switch connector terminals for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled-out pins, and corrosion).
• Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the terminal, then go to Step 5.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT PJB CONNECTOR
• Disconnect the PJB connector.
• Inspect the PJB connector terminals for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled-out pins, and corrosion).
• Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the terminal, then go to Step 5.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT TRUNK LID LATCH SWITCH/LIFTGATE LATCH SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GND
• Inspect for continuity between following terminals:
- PJB terminal J-06 Z (wiring harness-side) and body GND.
- PJB terminal J-06 X (wiring harness-side) and body GND.
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness for a possible short to GND, then go to Step 5.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT TRUNK LID LATCH SWITCH/LIFTGATE LATCH SWITCH
• Inspect the trunk lid latch switch/liftgate latch switch.
• Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Replace the trunk lid latch switch/liftgate latch switch, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
5
VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED
• Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
• Clear the DTC from the PJB memory using the WDS or equivalent.
• Perform the self-test.
(See PJB SELF-TEST.)
• Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Replace the PJB.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
