7-speed Mode Steering Shift + (Plus) Switch Circuit Troubleshooting

For KB, KE, KG, and KQ (L15A1 engine) Models (6-position CVT+7Speed Mode)

SRS components are located in this area. Review the following articles in the SRS before performing repairs or service;

1.	Remove the steering wheel.

Check for continuity between cable reel subharness 13P connector terminals No. 6 and No. 9 while pressing steering shift + (plus) switch and when the switch is released.

Is there continuity while pressing steering shift + (plus) switch and no continuity when the switch released?

YES - Go to 5.

NO - Go to 3.

3.	Disconnect steering shift + (plus) switch connector.

Check for continuity between steering shift + (plus) switch connector terminals while pressing the switch and when the switch is released.

Is there continuity while pressing the switch and no continuity when the switch released?

YES - Replace the cable reel subharness.n

NO - Replace steering shift + (plus) switch.n

5.	Remove the cable reel.

Check for continuity cable reel 13P connector terminal No. 9 and body ground.

Is there continuity?

YES - Go to 7.

NO - Repair open in the wire between cable reel 13P connector terminal No. 9 and ground (G402), or repair poor ground (G402).n

Check for continuity between cable reel 13P connector terminal No. 6 and body ground.

S-UP (YEL)CABLE REEL 13P CONNECTORWire side of female terminals

Is there continuity?

YES - Repair short to ground in the wire between cable reel 13P connector terminal No. 6 and PCM connector terminal B20.n

NO - Go to 8.

8.	Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and shift to the D or S position.

9.	Measure the voltage between cable reel 13P connector terminals No. 6 and No. 9. S-UP (YEL)GND (BLK)CABLE REEL 13P CONNECTORWire side of female terminals Is there about 5 V? YES - Replace the cable reel.n NO - Go to 10.

Measure the voltage between PCM connector terminal B20 and body ground.

PCM CONNECTOR B (24P)Wire side of female terminalsS-UP (YEL)

Is there about 5 V?

YES - Repair open in the wire between PCM connector terminal B20 and cable reel 13P connector.n

NO - Check for loose or poor connections at PCM connector terminal B20. If the connection is OK, substitute a known-good PCM and recheck.n
