DTC Troubleshooting: P1888 (36-1)
| DTC P1888: | Problem in CVT Speed Sensor Circuit |
NOTE: Record all freeze data and review General Troubleshooting Information before you troubleshoot.
| 1. | Check whether the DTC for manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor is indicated. Is the DTC for MAP sensor indicated? YES - Perform the MAP sensor troubleshooting, and recheck for DTC P1888 after troubleshooting. NO - Go to 2. |
| 2. | Turn the ignition switch OFF. |
| 3. | Check for continuity between PCM connector terminal A23 and body ground, and between terminal A24 and body ground.
 PCM CONNECTOR A (31P)LG1 (BRN/YEL)LG2 (BRN/YEL)Wire side of female terminalsIs there continuity? YES - Go to 4. NO - Repair open in the wire PCM connector terminals A23 and A24, and ground (G101), or repair poor ground ( G101).n |
| 4. | Disconnect CVT speed sensor connector. |
| 5. | Turn the ignition switch ON (II). |
| 6. | Measure the voltage between CVT speed sensor connector terminal No. 1 and body ground.
 Wire side of female terminalsCVT SPEED SENSOR CONNECTORVCC1 (YEL/RED)Is there about 5 V? YES - Go to 7. NO - Go to 18. |
| 7. | Turn the ignition switch OFF. |
| 8. | Disconnect PCM connector C (22P). |
| 9. | Check for continuity between CVT speed sensor connector terminal No. 2 and body ground.
 Wire side of female terminalsCVT SPEED SENSOR CONNECTORVEL1 (WHT/RED)Is there continuity? YES - Repair short to ground in the wire between PCM connector C22 and the CVT speed sensor connector.n NO - Go to 10. |
| 10. | Check for continuity between CVT speed sensor connector terminal No. 3 and body ground.
 Wire side of female terminalsCVT SPEED SENSOR CONNECTORLG1 (BRN/YEL)Is there continuity? YES - Go to 11. NO - Repair open in the wire between the CVT speed sensor connector terminal No. 3 and ground (G101), or repair poor ground ( G101).n |
| 11. | Reconnect PCM connector C (22P). |
| 12. | Turn the ignition switch ON (II). |
| 13. | Measure the voltage between CVT speed sensor connector terminals No. 2 and No. 3.

| 14. | Connect CVT speed sensor connector. |
| 15. | Measure the voltage between PCM connector terminals C22 and A23 or A24.

| 16. | Lift up the vehicle, and allow the wheels to rotate freely. |
| 17. | With driving the vehicle, measure the voltage between PCM connector terminals C22 and A23 or A24.

YES - Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software, or subsutitute a known-good PCM, then recheck. If the symptom/ indication goes away with a known-good PCM, replace the original PCM.n NO - Replace the CVT speed sensor.n |
| 18. | Measure the voltage between PCM connector terminals A21 and A23 or A24.

| 19. | Turn the ignition switch OFF. |
| 20. | Disconnect PCM connector A (31P). |
| 21. | Check for continuity between PCM connector terminal A21 and body ground.

YES - Repair short to ground in the wire between PCM connector terminal A21 and the CVT speed sensor connector.n NO - Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software, or subsutitute a known-good PCM, then recheck. | 22. | Measure the voltage between PCM connector terminals C22 and A23 or A24.
