Special Tools Required
- Puller body 5-8840-0013-0 and 5-8840-0014-0 (J-22888)
- Puller legs 5-8840-0566-0 (J-22888-50)
- Pilot 5-8840-0018-0 (J-23598)
- Differential side bearing installer 5-8840-0016-0 (J-22919)
- Driver handle 5-8840-0007-0 (J-8092)
- Remove the side bearing (A) using the special tools.
- Cut the tabs of the speedometer drive gear and remove the speedometer drive gear (B).
- Remove the lock pin (A).
NOTE:
Break staking on the lock pin using 5 mm (0.197 in.) diameter drill. Then drive the cross pin out and remove all the parts.
- Remove the cross pin.
- Remove the pinion gears and thrust washers.
- Remove the side gears and thrust washers.
- Remove the differential case.
- Measure the clearance between pinion gear (A) and cross pin (B).
Limit:
0.2 mm (0.008 in.)
- Measure the clearance between differential case (A) and side gear (B).
