Radiator and Condenser Fans Circuit Troubleshooting A

  1. Check the No. 5 (30A) fuse in the under-hood sub fuse box.

    Is the fuse OK?

YES – Go to step 2.

NO – Check for a short in the wire between the radiator fan relay, radiator fan motor and fan control relay and condenser fan motor or a faulty fan motor.

  1. Remove the radiator fan relay from the multi-relay box and test it, refer to the '01 Civic Shop Manual on this CD (see page 22-80).

    Is the relay OK?

YES – Go to step 3.

NO – Replace radiator fan relay.

  1. Measure the voltage between radiator fan relay 4P socket terminal No. 1 and body ground.

Is there battery voltage?

YES – Go to step 4.

NO – Repair an open in the wire between the under-hood sub fuse box and the radiator fan relay 4P socket terminal No.1.

  1. Connect a jumper wire between radiator fan relay 4P socket terminals No. 1 and No. 3.

Does the radiator fan run?

YES – Go to step 5.

NO – Go to step 7.

  1. Disconnect the jumper wire, and turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  1. Measure the voltage between radiator fan relay 4P socket terminal No. 2 and body ground.

Is there the battery voltage?

YES – Repair an open in the wire between the radiator fan relay and the A/C pressure switch.

NO – Repair an open in the wire between the under-dash fuse/relay box and the radiator fan relay 4P socket terminal No.2.
