Auto-Tensioner Inspection

  1. Remove the auto-tensioner, refer to the '01 Civic Shop Manual on this CD (see page 6-26).

NOTE: Do not apply a force on the tensioner pulley.

  1. Put the auto-tensioner on the surface plate.
  2. Measure the height at point A (A) and point B (B).

  1. Calculate the difference in height between point A and point B. If the difference in height is out of tolerance, replace the auto-tensioner.

Difference in height:

Specification:

0.75 mm (0.030 in.)

  1. Inspect the spring grommet (A). Replace the grommet if damaged or deteriorated.
