DTC Troubleshooting: P2127 (37)

DTC P2127:  APP Sensor B Circuit Low Voltage



1.Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

2.Check the APP SENSOR-B in the DATA LIST with the Honda PGM Tester or the HDS.

Is there about 0 % or 0.1 V or less?


YES - Go to 3.


NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time.
Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the APP sensor and at the ECM/PCM.n


3.Turn the ignition switch OFF.

4.Disconnect the APP sensor 6P connector.

5.Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

6.At wire harness side, measure voltage between the APP sensor 6P connector terminals No.1 and No. 2.

Is there about 5 V?


YES - Go to 7.


NO - Go to 15.

7.Turn the ignition switch OFF.

8.At sensor side, measure resistance between the APP sensor 6P connector terminals No. 2 and No. 3 with the throttle fully closed.

Is there about 0.35-0.45 kW?


YES - Go to 9.


NO - Go to 16.


9.At sensor side, measure resistance between the APP sensor 6P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 3 with the throttle fully closed.

Is there about 2.7-3.3 kW?


YES - Go to 10.


NO - Go to 16.

10.Jump the SCS line with the Honda PGM Tester or the HDS.

11.Disconnect ECM/PCM connector A (31P).

12.At wire harness side, check for continuity between APP sensor 6P connector terminal No. 3 and body ground.

Is there continuity?


YES - Repair short in the wire between the APP sensor B and ECM/PCM (A25), then go to 17.


NO - Go to 13.


13.Connect ECM/PCM connector terminal A25 to body ground with a jumper wire.

14.At wire harness side, check for continuity between APP sensor 6P connector terminal No. 3 and body ground.

Is there continuity?


YES - Go to 22.


NO - Repair open in the wire between the APP sensor B and ECM/PCM (A25), then go to 17.


15.Measure voltage between ECM/PCM connector terminals A20 and A23.

Is there about 5 V?


YES - Repair open in the wire between the ECM/PCM (A20) and the APP sensor B, then go to 17.


NO - Go to 22.

16.Replace the APP sensor.

17.Reconnect ECM/PCM connector.

18.Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

19.Do the ECM/PCM RESET in the CLEAR MENU with the Honda PGM Tester or the HDS.

20.Do the ECM/PCM idle learn procedure.

21.Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs in the DTCs MENU with the Honda PGM Tester or the HDS.

Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated?


YES - If DTC P2127 is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the APP sensor B and the ECM/PCM, then go to 1. If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC troubleshooting.


NO - Troubleshooting is complete.n


22.Update the ECM/PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good ECM/PCM.

23.Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs in the DTCs MENU with the Honda PGM Tester or the HDS.

Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated?


YES - If DTC P2127 is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the APP sensor B and the ECM/PCM, then go to 1. If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC troubleshooting.


NO - If the ECM/PCM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If the ECM/PCM was substituted, replace the original ECM/PCM.
