VSA Activation Indicator Circuit Troubleshooting
VSA activation indicator does not come on
| 1. | Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and watch the VSA activation indicator. Does the VSA activation indicator come on for several seconds? YES - The system is OK at this time.n NO - Go to 2. |
| 2. | Apply the parking brake. Does the brake system indicator come on? YES - Go to 3. NO - Repair open in the indicator power source circuit.n |
| 3. | Turn the ignition switch OFF. |
| 4. | Substitute a known-good VSA modulator-control unit. |
| 5. | Turn the ignition switch ON (II). Does the VSA activation indicator come on? YES - Replace the VSA modulator-control unit.n |
VSA activation indicator does not go off, and no DTCs are stored
| 1. | Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and watch the VSA system indicator. Does the VSA system indicator go off? YES - Go to 2. NO - Do the appropriate troubleshooting for the VSA system indicator.n |
| 2. | Turn the ignition switch OFF. |
| 3. | Check the VSA OFF switch. Is the switch OK? YES - Go to 4. NO - Replace the VSA OFF switch.n |
| 4. | Clear the DTC. Does the VSA system indicator go off? YES - The system is OK at this time.n NO - Go to 5. |
| 5. | Remove the gauge control module. |
| 6. | Turn the ignition switch ON (II). |
| 7. | Measure the voltage between the gauge control module connector B (30P) terminal No. 7 and body ground. GAUGE CONTROL MODULE CONNECTOR B (30P)Wire side of female terminalsVSA OFF SW (RED/WHT)Is there battery voltage? YES - Go to 8. NO - Replace the gauge control module.n |
| 8. | Measure the voltage between the VSA OFF switch 5P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground. VSA OFF SWITCH 5P CONNECTORWire side of female terminalsVSA OFF SW (RED/WHT)Is there battery voltage? YES - Go to 9. NO - Repair open in the wire between the gauge control module and the VSA OFF switch.n |
| 9. | Turn the ignition switch OFF. |
| 10. | Check for continuity between the VSA OFF switch 5P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground. VSA OFF SWITCH 5P CONNECTORWire side of female terminalsGND (BLK)Is there continuity? YES - Go to 11. NO - Repair open in the wire between the VSA OFF switch and body ground (G501).n |
| 11. | Substitute a known-good VSA modulator-control unit. |
| 12. | Recconnect all of the disconnected connectors. |
| 13. | Clear the DTC . |
| 14. | Test-drive the vehicle. Does the VSA activation indicator go off? YES - Replace the VSA modulator-control unit.n NO - Check for loose terminals in the gauge control module connectors. If necessary, substitute a known-good gauge control module, and recheck.n |
