| DTC B1388: | Power tailgate Motor Malfunction |
| 1. | Clear the DTCs by selecting the DTCs MENU (DTCs) from the Honda PGM Tester or the HDS. |
| 2. | Open the tailgate fully, then close the tailgate fully with the transmitter or the power tailgate inner switch. |
| 3. | Check the DTCs by selecting the DTCs MENU (DTCs) from the Honda PGM Tester or the HDS. Is DTC B1388 indicated? YES - Go to 4. NO - Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.n |
| 4. | Cycle the ignition switch to OFF. |
| 5. | Open the tailgate fully with the tailgate outer handle. |
| 6. | Disconnect power tailgate control unit connector C (4P). |
| 7. | Check for continuity between the No. 1 terminal of power tailgate control unit connector C (4P) and body ground. Is there continuity? YES - Repair a short in the BLK (PTG+) wire.n NO - Go to 8. |
| 8. | Check for continuity between the No. 2 terminal of power tailgate control unit connector C (4P) and body ground. Is there continuity? YES - Repair a short in the WHT (PTG-) wire.n NO - Go to 9. |
| 9. | Connect battery positive (+) terminal to the No. 1 terminal of power tailgate control unit connector C (4P), and connect battery negative (-) terminal to the No. 2 terminal, then operate in reverse connecting. Is there smooth rotation? YES - Go to 10. NO - Faulty power tailgate motor; replace the power tailgate drive unit.n |
| 10. | Check for continuity between the No. 3 terminal of power tailgate control unit connector C (4P) and body ground. Is there continuity? YES - Repair a short in the BRN/BLK (CLU+) wire.n NO - Go to 11. |
| 11. | Check for continuity between the No. 4 terminal of power tailgate control unit connector C (4P) and body ground. Is there continuity? YES - Repair a short in the RED/GRN (CLU-) wire.n NO - Go to 12. |
| 12. | Check the operation noise with connect battery positive (+) terminal to the No. 3 terminal of power tailgate control unit connector C (4P), and connect battery negative (-) terminal to the No. 4 terminal. Is there operation sound? YES - Go to 13. NO - Faulty power tailgate clutch; replace the power tailgate drive unit.n |
| 13. | Disconnect the power tailgate control unit connector B (5P). |
| 14. | Check for voltage between the No. 2 terminal of power tailgate control unit connector B (5P) and body ground. Is there Battery voltage? YES - Go to 15. NO - Repair an open in the WHT/GRN (VMP1) wire, or blown No. 42 (40A) fuse in the under-hood subfuse box.n |
| 15. | Check for continuity between the No. 1 terminal of power tailgate control unit connector B (5P) and body ground. Is there battery voltage? YES - Go to 16. NO - Repair an open in the WHT/YEL (VMP2) wire, or blown No. 41 (20A) in the under-hood subfuse box.n |
| 16. | Check for continuity between the No. 3 and No. 5 terminals of power tailgate control unit connector B (5P) and body ground. Is there continuity? YES - Faulty power tailgate control unit; replace it.n NO - Repair an open in the BLK (PG1, PG2) wire(s), or poor ground (G705).n |
