DTC Troubleshooting: B1376

DTC B1376:  Power Tailgate Outer Handle Switch Signal Error


1.Clear the DTC by selecting the DTCs MENU (DTCs) from the Honda PGM Tester or the HDS.

2.Cycle the ignition switch to OFF and then back ON.

3.After 2 secons or more, pull the tailgate outer handle 2 seconds or more.

4.Check for DTCs by the DTCs MENU (DTCs) from the Honda PGM Tester or the HDS.

Is DTC B1376 indicated?


YES - Go to 5.


NO - Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.n


5.Cycle the ignition swith to OFF.

6.Open the tailgate fully with the transmitter.

7.Disconnect connector A (26P) from the power tailgate control unit.

8.Check for continuity between the No. 10 and No. 12 terminals of power tailgate control unit connector A (26P) and body ground.

Is there continuity?


YES - Repair a short in the WHT/RED (OHSW) or YEL/BLK (SCOM) wire.n


NO - Go to 9.

9.Check for continuity between the No. 10 and No. 12 terminals of power tailgate control unit connector A (26P).

Is there continuity with tailgate outer handle pulled, and no continuity with tailgate outer handle released?


YES - Faulty power tailgate control unit; replace it.n


NO - Repair an open in the WHT/RED (OHSW) or YEL/BLK (SCOM)wire, or faulty power tailgate outer handle switch: replace it.n
