Audio System Symptom Troubleshooting - Power switch will not turn ON

Power switch will not turn on


NOTE: Verify that the switch is not pushed to the ON position.

1.With the ignition switch ON (II), push the power switch ON to see if the audio unit turns ON.

Does the power turn on by turning the power switch?


YES - Operation is normal.n


NO - Go to 2.


2.Turn the ignition switch OFF. Check the No. 5 (7.5A) and No. 32 (7.5A) fuses in the under-dash fuse/relay box.

Are they in good condition?


YES - Go to 3.


NO - Replace the fuses and recheck.n


3.Remove the audio-HVAC-display module unit. Check the audio unit connector A (20P) is correctly connected.

Is it connected properly?


YES - Go to 4.


NO - Reconnect the connector and recheck the power.n

4.Measure the voltage between the audio unit connector A10 terminal and body ground.

Is there battery voltage?


YES - Go to 5.


NO - An open circuit or poor wire connection between the under-dash fuse/relay box N11 terminal and audio unit connector A10 terminal.n


5.Turn the ignition switch ON (II), measure the voltage between the audio unit connector A2 terminal and body ground.

Is there battery voltage?


YES - Go to 6.


NO - An open circuit or poor wire connection between the under-dash fuse/relay box N39 terminal and audio unit connector A2 terminal.n

6.Check for continuity between the audio unit connector A20 terminal and body ground.

Is there continuity?


YES - Faulty audio unit.n


NO - An open in the wire between the audio unit connector A20 terminal and body ground (G504).n
