DTC Troubleshooting: B1236 (O)

DTC indicator O or DTC B1236:  An Open in the Passenger's Air Mix Control Motor Circuit

1.Clear the DTC.

2.Turn the ignition switch OFF, and then ON.

3.Operate the climate control system is several modes.

4.Check the DTCs.

Is DTC O or B1236 indicated?

YES - Go to 5.

NO - Intermittent failure, check for loose wires or poor connections on the passenger's air mix control motor circuit.n

5.Test the passenger's air mix control motor.

Is the passenger's air mix control motor OK?

YES - Go to 6.

NO - Replace the passenger's air mix control motor.n

6.Disconnect the passenger's air mix control motor 7P connector.

7.Disconnect climate control unit connector A (22P).

8.Check for continuity between following terminals of climate control unit connector A (22P) and the passenger's air mix control motor 7P connector.

22P: 7P:
No. 2 No. 3
No. 10 No. 1
No. 15 No. 5
No. 20 No. 7
No. 22 No. 2

Is there continuity?

YES - Go to 9.

NO - Repair any open in the wire(s) between the climate control unit and the passenger's air mix control motor.n

9.Perform the A/C communication in the Self-Diagnostic Function to obtain the IS-BUS communication varification status

Is the communication OK?

YES - Check for loose wire or poor connections at climate control unit connector A (22P) and at the passenger's air mix control motor 7P connector. If the connections are good, substitute a known-good climate control unit and printed circuit board, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original climate control unit and printed circuit board.n
