Cylinder Head Removal

NOTE:

1.Drain the engine coolant.

2.Relieve fuel pressure.

3.Remove the fuel line.

4.Remove the drive belt.

5.Disconnect the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor connector (A).

6.Remove the vacuum hose (B) and breather pipe (C), then remove the intake air duct (D).

7.Remove the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister hose (A) and brake booster vacuum hose (B).

8.Remove the intake manifold.

9.Remove the exhaust manifold.

10.Remove the bolt (A) securing the connecting pipe.

11.Remove the water bypass hose (B).

12.Remove the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose (A), vacuum hose (B) and ground cable (C).

13.Remove the upper radiator hose (A) and heater hoses (B).

14.Remove the engine wire harness connectors and wire harness clamps from the cylinder head.

  • Four injector connectors
  • Engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor connector
  • Camshaft position (CMP) sensor A/B connectors
  • Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve connector (K20A6 engine)
  • VTEC solenoid valve connector
  • Engine oil pressure (EOP) sensor connector

15.Remove the two bolts (A) securing the EVAP canister purge valve bracket and remove the bolt (B) securing the harness bracket.

16.Remove the cam chain.

17.Remove the rocker arm assembly.

18.Remove the cylinder head bolts. To prevent warpage, unscrew the bolts in sequence 1/3 turn at a time; repeat the sequence until all bolts are loosened.

19.Remove the cylinder head.
