DTC Troubleshooting: 76-3x

DTC 76-3x (‘‘x'' can be 0 thru 9 or A thru F):
Faulty F-CAN communication or Internal Failure of E-pretensioner Unit (K24Z3 engine)
NOTE: Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and Procedures and General Troubleshooting Information.
  1. Clear the DTC memory.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), and wait for 10 seconds.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and wait for 10 seconds.
  1. Read the DTC.
Is DTC 76-3x indicated?
YES -
Go to Step 5 .
NO -
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures. If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and check that the ACC indicator comes on and then goes off.
Does the ACC indicator go off?
YES -
Go to Step 7 .
NO -
Faulty the ACC system, go to ACC system troubleshooting.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and check that the VSA indicator comes on and then goes off.
Does the VSA indicator go off?
YES -
Go to Step 9 .
NO -
Faulty the VSA system, go to VSA system troubleshooting.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and check that the ECM/PCM indicator comes on and then goes off.
Does the ECM/PCM indicator go off?
YES -
Go to Step 11 .
NO -
Faulty the ECM/PCM system, go to the ECM/PCM system troubleshooting.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  1. Disconnect the left engine compartment subharness 14P connector (LHD models) or E-pretensioner subharness 14P connector (RHD models) from the E-pretensioner unit.
  1. Disconnect the ACC unit connector (20P) from the ACC unit.
  1. Check continuity between No. 3 terminal of E-pretensioner unit 14P connector and the No. 10 terminal of ACC unit connector (20P), and between the No. 5 terminal of the left engine compartment subharness 14P connector (LHD models) or E-pretensioner unit 14P connector (RHD models) and the No. 20 terminal of ACC unit connector (20P).
Is there continuity?
YES -
Go to Step 15 .
NO -
Open between the left engine compartment subharness 14P connector (LHD models) or E-pretensioner subharness 14P connector (RHD models) and ACC unit connector (20P).■
