Cam Chain Inspection
  1. Measure the oil pump chain auto-tensioner rod length.

    Service Limit:
    13 mm (0.5 in.)

  1. If the length is over the service limit, replace the oil pump chain. When replacing, check the teeth on the crankshaft sprocket and oil pump sprocket for wear and damage. If any of them are worn or damaged, replace if necessary.
  1. Check the oil passage on the oil pump chain auto-tensioner for clogs. If the auto-tensioner is clogged, replace it.
  1. Install the new cam chain.
  1. Remove the jack and a wood block.
  1. Install the oil pan.
  1. Install the cylinder head cover.
  1. Install the four spark plugs.
  1. Install the splash shield.
  1. Install the front wheels.
