Balancer Shaft/Balancer Shaft Holder Assembly Overhaul
  1. Remove the upper balancer shaft holder and the bearings again, and measure the widest part with the plastigage.
    • If the front balancer shaft No. 1 journal and the rear balancer shaft No. 1, 2 journals oil clearance is out-of-tolerance, replace the balancer shaft and recheck. If it is still out-of-tolerance, replace the balancer shaft holders.
    • If the front balancer shaft No. 2 journal and the rear balancer shaft No. 3 journal oil clearance is out-of-tolerance, install new bearings, and recheck. If it is still out-of-tolerance, replace the balancer shafts.

    0.13 mm (0.005 in.)
    Rear No. 1, 2 Journals:
    Standard (New):
    0.030−0.062 mm (0.0012−0.0024 in.)
    Service Limit:
    0.08 mm (0.003 in.)
    Rear No. 3 Journal:
    Standard (New):
    0.04−0.10 mm (0.002−0.004 in.)
    Service Limit:
    0.13 mm (0.005 in.)
